View Full Version : Creative Assembly Rome total War
Was wondering, the screenshots from RTW look absolutely AMAZING But they worry me too, do you think all that goodness will run on a 1.3 processor? Got a geforce4 with 128 mb which is decent enough a card, but a teamgame of Medieval is enough to make the game run like a slideshow....... All these gorgeous full 3d units........oh my =(

I don't think we know what the min spec is yet, and anything we claimed now could easily come back to bite us. However, it's worth pointing out that the power of levels of detail means that the soldiers are only rendered in full animated 3D when they're close enough for this to matter. So don't worry that your machine can't possibly render 5,000 soldiers in 3D, because the game won't ever ask it to.

In a Private chat with Micheal (on GameSpy), he told me it had run on less than a PIII 733, Geforce 2 128 MB Ram, keeping in mind that this _is_ a PR guy http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif... but it should work on your pc.. mine howver /\ http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif.

Medieval has a really inefficient engine, and its sys req is horrendous. I've heard that the developers over at CA on average are running the RTW themselves on Athlon 1800+ with 512 RAM and GeForce 3. Someone said that on a different board, so I can't guarantee that it's true. You should be ok with that setup, because in one of the articles on RTW the guy at CA says that they are running the game quite happily on a Pentium 3 800 Mhz laptop with 256 RAM and GeForce2Go, or something. I don't trust that, but oh well. You never know, maybe quite happily in his book is 640x480, 16-bit color and 20 frames per second. (I have a p4 1.6 Ghz with a GeForce 3, so I hope the same, for my sake).

Never had a problem with MTW even at Max resolution... but I'm running a P4 2.53 GHZ/512MB Ram with a Geforce 4 for good measure.
I havn't seen anyother game that can have a 1000 men running around the field let alone 10,000.

Well, eventually we all will have to upgrade, if not for RTW, then maybe for LOTR TW http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif
You can get an XP 2400+512+Asus for $200 now, so it really is not a fortune....I paid over $2000 for my first PC here, and it was PII 450 back in the days when I did not know where to buy parts from...Now, I just keep upgrading...

Yeah, stuff is really cheap now. But damn, that price is ridiculously low. Where did you find that?? You mean motherboard and CPU and RAM for $200? That's what you'd expect to get from a guy with a trenchcoat in a dark alley.
