Oops
sorry bout the spelling, here is what i meant by first sentence re-worded:
I was looking in the RTW forum place here at .org, and People were calling the land Which is now called Isreal Palestine, as in it was palestine in Roman times.
I'm almost positive that it was Judea or my whole history report for hebrew school on Rabi Akiva is wrong http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif
I was wondering how you can be Nasir ( Jewish ruler of Judea, kinda like top guy in supreme court.) Of a country that does not exist? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
THE KNOWLEGE http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif
Please post any feedback you can, for whether I am right or wrong.
Note: I think his time period was around 50ad.

Ok here's the deal. It basically depends on what time period during the Roman occupation you are talking about. Judaea was what the province was originally called by the Romans, whilee it was a client-kingdom and right after the client-king Herod's death, when it was put under the authority of the Roman governor of Syria. During the Emperor Hadrian's reign the province was renamed Syria Palestina. This was sometimes shortened to just Palestina.

The people we today know as the Palestinians were not present. Their descendents arrived in the region after the Roman period. The local population was made up of mainly of Jews, but also Greeks, Samaritans, Hellenized Syrians, nomadic Arabs and Romans.
