This is the most important part of the Readme file for the 1.1 patch that is included with the VI. Friends in EU: enjoy the reading, we here try to ease the wait time as much as possible (Can you believe that I have not read it yet http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif )

First general warning:

Due to significant changes, any progression saved in the Battle Tutorial, Historical Campaigns, saved replays, and Campaign save games from Medieval - Total War will not be compatible with Viking Invasion.

And now the file:

MEDIEVAL: TOTAL WAR Update V1.1 README FILE

***Edited out***

It turns out to be the exact same Readme file as with the Patch downloadable from the www. I assumed that there would be some changes and pasted it without reading. If there were any changes done, they seem to be not recorded in the file, as the game probably still records as Ver 1.1.

The following two posts remain valid though.

Please forgive my hastiness http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

Among the goodies on the CD: A RTW Video with unbelivable level of details. It cannot be in game (it would need P6 6000Mhz to render 10,000 guys like this fighting it out), although one shot looks like it could be (formation moving up). It has some turtle formations, siege machines (look though like antipersonal balistas), archers, horde of painted savages, Roman commander... I keep browsing the CD....

Looking at the VI tech tree:

• There are 5 levels to a castle, with the keep being the highest.
• Two levels of pagan shrines.
• Four levels of Christian churches.
• There is a “Drinking Hall” upgradeable to “Mead Hall” and later to royal buildings.
• Mint and Court of Law
• Assassin and Spy building buildings have 3 levels with +2, +3 upgrades (what a sentence)
• There are 4 level of “farm” building, but the top one is only +40%
• There are 5 general tech levels
• Most of the buildings seem to be Christian (not pagan), but it does not say if they will be available to Vikings (maybe it shows but I try to read quickly as much as I can)…

I loaded one of my saved positions in an MTW campaign. I then moved some armies around and saved the new position. I had no problems. So I'm not sure what is meant by Campaign save games from Medieval - Total War will not be compatible with Viking Invasion.

Gregoshi and I are emailing a Spanish campaign back and forth after the death of the ruler. If there is an incompatibility we are in trouble, because I upgraded without creating a new installed version. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

This is the same patch message that vame with the v1.1 patch... so I think it's just meant for people who haven't installed the 1.1 patch previously to getting VI.
