Hi all, just joined and i have a couple of questions.

1. If playing online do i have to go through game spy and does it cost anything ( thats the jock in me )?

2. Do i need to download any patches?

3. Does it matter what kind of connection i have, 56k/broadband etc.

In answer to your questions:

1. It is not necessary to pay to play through gamespy. Yoy have the OPTION to pay and get registered as a gold memeber.
Once you click Multiplayer in the MTW main menu, you have the option of registering on Gamespy. You MUST register on Gamespy in order to play MP via internet.

2. You will need patch v1.1. You can download it from the files section here, on totalwar.com, or from any one of the clan sites.

3. It does not matter what kind of connection you have. You can play with 56k. Ideally you have broadband, the more bandwidth the better. But you can play with 56k, I regularly play a friend from Australia who uses 56k, no problem.

Actually correction to Q2, you will most likely need the Viking Invasion which is version 2.0, but playing against MTW owners then you'll need the V1.1 patch.
