I would like some volunteers to test hermano's Online campaign tool, (of sorts)
this will allow play by mail campaign games for MTW,
which will give a whole new depth to the game,

Quote[/b] ] From Hermano:-

i wrote a tool, that allows to change the players faction of a mtv savegame
(as example you save playing the turks, then change to the germans, reload, et voila, you're now kaiser of the hre)

so what's possible with it:
playing with up to 20 players (depends on campaign/mod)
hot seat (quicksave, alt-tab, change faction, alt-tab back, quickload)
or over the net (send the savegame to another player, who will continue the same turn with an other faction)
all the moves made, will be played at the end of the year, even when the players faction has changed
obviously it can also be used to cheat (retire units of computer factions, start wars between computer faction, send their emissaries, etc)

what's not possible with it:
some factions will not be playable in the games campaigns, i.e. the russians, while novgorod is active, some factions will have wether land nor units (i.e. the golden horde before 1200)
only the players that ends a turn will receive diplomatic messages, the ai will decide over the other factions diplomacy
attacking another player without him knowing, since he will see moves of other predecessing players along his borders
battles between players must be resolved automatically (otherwise the game will wait until both factions units are set by the players, which is not possible)

please try it and tell me if it worked on your system (i only tried it on my system yet), it think it can give a new dimension to the campaign game of mtw,
thanks, hermano

That sounds great. Only one question, can this tool be used in Single player camp. that the player can switch controlled factions during the course? (I still wants to fight the battle myself, not auto resove). I wounder by this way, it can alter some stupid moves by the AI.

i toyed with doing something like that on paper... back when we were still designing the fear mp campaign... the major problem is time.. if you were to get every player to make 1 move a day chances are your campaign would take over a year... and thats assuming that everyone makes deadlines 100% of the time...

my solution was a time warp of sorts.. allow players to make moves for up to 10 years in one turn... this put an small campaign concluding in about 2 months time..

i sent off several emails to ca and made quite a few requests for a tool that would allow us to auto resolve battles fairly... i never got any response so i let the idea die..

im afraid just swapping saved games wont work...not on a large scale anyways... too much time.. however , i think your tool would be ideal for say a 1v1 campaign... as long as you can make multiple moves without waiting too much it will work..

Le Bob let's start a 1vs1. I'd like to play Turks. Should we start in Late, just to keep it as a short test ? Maybe you could ploay some neighbouring faction ?
