All,
I'm a newbie green as grass. I've been training in the tutorial and custom battles to master grouping and getting the feel of the game mechanics.

I wish the tutorial was more exstensive. That in each they become more complex as the training goes:

My Idea is a campaign called training in which starts out simple and becomes complex as unit types are added. So a beginner can practice with each type as he goes.

say for a start: 3 sa, 3 ya, 3 ys on various terrain and season.
each senario will add a new type of unit. Once a player masters one senario he continues on to another.

Would anyone be interested in such a project? Would it be worthwhile the time and effort? I believe it would help a newbie like myself.

I would be interested in any feed back.

well warhawk as stormer nicely stated there fewer people playing WE specially now with the release of VI. But instead of a mod for beginners i suggest u make a mod like Ikki. It's a fictional scenario well made by Tosa and it can be played as a campaign and as historical battles. BTW on Sunday's u can meet a few players in the multiplayer lobby. Try to speak with them and lesson to wath they suggest. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Stormer, Sir Black Raven, SeljukSinan,

Let me fist thank you for your input. I do have a question?
What is VI? Another is I do not own MTW is it a addon for it?

How does one save custom battles? And how does one create a campaign? As to the mod like Ikki. I am having trouble accessing the download sight.

Warhawk, you are most welcome mate.

STW or Shogun Total War is the first in the Toital War series.

MTW is Medieval Total War (http://www.totalwar.com/community/medieval1.htm) (click for link) the second in the Total War series. MTW is set in Medieval Europe, starting in the time of the Crusades, and ending in the fall of Constantinople. VI is The Viking Invasion addon for MTW, set in the Dark Age of Europe.

RTW is Rome Total War (http://www.totalwar.com/community/rome.htm) (click for link) the third in the Total War series.

Have a look around, in those links and on these boards for more info.

Hmm I take it these are genuine questions. I can offer an answer for this one. In STW there is no replay feature. In MTW there is an option after the battle which allows you to save a replay of the battle. You can then watch the replay anytime you want. Now that's a cool feature.

STW can't save battles.

I can post the Ikki scenario in the memberfiles section. It has a faq that may help you to create your own scenario.

TosaInu ,
That posting will be helpfull and I read about it on the forum. Make for interesting play. As to MTW, it is out of my price range right now. so is RTW when it comes out. I will have to wait until the price goes down or that money tree in the back yard blums again with a bumber crop.

SeljukSinan, those screen shots look awsome

I see the people who make TotalWar are covering mainly the ancient battles, I wound if they will Cover the pike and Musket period, early musket period up to US war of Indepence, The Napoleonic period and finally the American Civil War.

The American Civil War would be interesting. Those spites in the STW remind me of a game years ago American Civil War. It used a campaign and a battle mode using sprites. Very poor quality yet it was fun.

You guys are great here I like the community. I post here and at the STW board also.

Now only if I can get my system configed or get the proper settings to use to download at 3DO. If anyone is interested I found a sight that has the original STW Demo?

Some other help. I got MS office 97 to operate on my XP. Anyone what that info contact me. I also have two utilities that are great:
Splitit file spliter which produces two or more file splits .001 and reconsolidated with a batch file, each file is 1.4 mg. A creat utility for sending some large files when your mail server only allows for 2 mg attachments

The screen capture program is called Print Key V4.
a screen capture utility that allows to select a portion of a picture to be saved. These where are freeware.
I will be glad to make them available to anyone. contact me by e-mail.

Thaks again to all of you.

I'm not sure what they will do next year. Personally I'd like to see a colonial type Total War, Napoleonic would be good too.
If you think about it the possibillities are almost as many as there are warring periods in man's history. Once we are done with that, everyone wants a Fantasy Total War......and...

TosaInu,

From post at main enterance hall:
...............................................................................
Well, I finally fixed that download problem, E-machine comes with a restore program cd disks. This restores everything back to original installation and destroys any othe programs and saved info. I had to save a lot of info to cds'. Then do the restore. Only thing I have not re-installed is a pop-stopper program. I believe even when disabled it prevents downloads. I will test my idea out later this week.

Thanks for the help. I know it is drastic what I had to do but some times it is needed. I do not suggest this fix unless you have restore programs for your machine. I do not know about backups. One thing you must do before using a restore program: Save anything you want saved to a cd Then it can be dragged and droped back to the hard drive.

If anyone has MS Office 97 and wants to install Windows XP: save the MS office folder to a cd, drag and drop it when xp installed. The do an install with your MS Office 97 disk. The program will then be able to find nessay files needed for installation otherwise it is a no go on an install. I am sorry I can not make the folder available for download. It is atlest 117 mg file. That is 84 1.4 uploads.
.................................................................................
I have up load the files from the 3do site. Thank you just same for going through the bother. I much appreciate your effort.

Now I got to read about how to install it so I do not mess up the program once I install the mod. I am still in progress on the manual. tons of info from this site and others. A lot to read and put in to play. I am still just learning the basics. Its a great game The possibilities are emince. I am more use to turn base games such as SPWAW another of my favorites. Yet the tactical is more realistic and challenging.
