is anyone else having an apparent problem with AI controlled units getting stuck in the red zone when they try to enter the maps?
usually seems to happen along water edges, rivers and the new 'beach' maps.
The AI unit just sits there, inside the red zone and won't 'enter' the map.

What I do is use the 'red zone' cheat to get a unit into a position where they 'encounter' the AI unit on the way out of the red zone and force a mellee...
the AI unit will usually rout easily allowing my units that did not enter the red zone to engage in some slaughter...

Hi Barocca!!

I indeed have this problem as well, but mine is worse! My own units tend to stuck, specially in "HomeMade" maps.
I think the only way to avoid this problem is to go a bit burther around the respective lake, ocean, etc.

I've had this problem also, especially in Wakasa province. Some AI reenforcements always seem to get "stuck" on the extreme northwest part of the map where the ocean meets the land. The first time it happened was quite frustrating trying to find them. Now I know where to look because it always seems to be in the same place.

there is a work-around for this in single player. however, it will screw up multiplayer. edit your map. you can also edit another map and rename it to the original and keep the original unaltered and saved some place else so you can play it online with others.

i've never really tried this, but there's no reason i know of that you cant replace any map that is used in the campaign with another one. just rename the other map to the name of the map you wish to replace and either remove the original or rename it to something else.

just remember that if you do edit a map and no one else has those edits on their map, you wont be able to use it in multi. maps in multi must be EXACTLY the same.

I've got a major gripe with the red zone thing. I recently had an enourmous battle against some Ronin. I routed the first wave. The second wave came on and routed immediately but ran down the side in the red zone so that I couldn't kill them! I had several units of WM and HC ready and waiting for them but they couldn't reach them. I know archers would solve this but they won't get nearly so many kills and they can't chase routing units as they're slower. Anyone else found this?

I'm not sure your "major gripe" is justified Zone. From a realism viewpoint what's happening here? Some reinforcements approach the battlefield. They see the comrades they came to help running past them in terror in the opposite direction and see ahead hordes of your forces chasing after them. I guess they'd turn and run before you get close. Seems reasonable. BTW I don't think your archers would make any difference as they can't fire into the red zone.
Some time ago I identified a major cheat which can be employed in the red zone. Whilst you can't fire INTO it, you can, incredibly fire OUT of it. If you withdraw your archers, when they reach the red zone simply have them fire at their pursuers. Remarkably, the pursuers will simply stand there in formation, dropping like flies as you fire your arrows into them at close range! Not an honourable way to inflict casualties but quite amusing to try once. (Only in SP of course).

They don't turn and run, I don't have the patch yet (I don't mind the challenge of random reinforcements) and they were appearing at my end. I wait for them but they run down the side straight past all my waiting units:

I suspect this is why I get a loss when I've routed the enemy & all reinforcements, (and) sent troops everywhere to find any standing survivors only to find none, and stand like an idiot waiting for the clock to run down. This happens in Tosa (most of the time) but I've also noticed it in Echigo.
