I've never gotten round to it. I might install the MedMod once it gets converted to VI though, I've heard good things about it.

Usually for me. It was a while before I found out about the WesW's mod, but I used it up until VIs release. I'll start using it again once he releases a VI version though, some of the changes hes proposing in the next one are especially nice in restricting unit types.

I have tried a fair few mods. I love Patrician,Crazy Ivans Croatia/Serbia,Norman Lords,Sword Bretheren and the Teutonic Knights among others. I've heard good things about WesW's mod and Orda's Mongol mod and will give them a go and no doubt they will be great.

Never - with an exception. I don't have enough time to fully explore the untainted version of the TW games let alone mess around with mods. The lone exception was to help barocca test his famous STW Japan's Darkest Days campaign before he released it.
Thanks for putting up this poll nicolas. I've been meaning to put up such a poll for the last few weeks. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif
Always
there are just too many things that annoy me in
the game ,such as : AI peasant armies , no footknights ,
couple of bugged VI units , unit availebilety (if it's
in the script i want too use it, etc ,etc .
basicly a lot of things i think that should have been
in the game .
as for mods i played wesw first version (the one at the .com forum) , patrican ,norman mod, and
my personal fav the lords 67 extra units mod .
I'm not big on gameplay chaging mods because i like to
do that myself and there will always be changes that
I don't agree with

I extended the question into: Do you MOD your SP game at all, and answered always
I'm not good at modding. But I do like to change a few things. Like certain build times (mainly boats), create a few producable units (like Chivalric foot and knigts of the hospital) and ocassionally resources for barren provinces. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

never....so far. I had a 4-5 month break from MTW, mainly cos it was taking several hours to play each turn. VI has a save between battles feature so I'm playing MTW again and its also added a lot of improvements to the SP game. So once wes has converted his mod to be VI compatable, I will probly use it for a double win situation http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I've always used Paladin's 1092 mod
good stuff
I've downloaded patrician, and Medmod IV, but haven;t actualy gotten round to installing either of them - mainly because VI came out and I felt there was enough to learn with that.
I may use Medmod once it is VI'd and I'm keeping an eye on Napoleonic, units look very nice http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

The Napoleonic Unit Betas are available for testing right now you can get V1.7 by searching the Nap. Mod thread in the dungeon for the links if the Lords site is down use the link for the mirror site. The Lords are currently working on the campaign apsect for the Nap units and the Mod campaign for VI will be released soon. By the way I play almost exclusively modded games, if you can change an already great game to suit your taste that makes all the better for me anyway. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I originally decided that mods were not worth the trouble and I didn't have the time but in the end i downloaded WesW's med mod and it really makes the game better. I haven't gotten anyothers but as soon as VI mods come out and I get some spare time I might give them a shot.
I am far too obsessed with my own modding to try out others. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
WesW's mod is great, but I have not had much of a chance to try other mods, because I'm very busy modding the game myself http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif but sometimes I have a few problems that I wouldn't have if I just downloaded one http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

My mods hold a permanent place in my game, and I always use them. You really cant ignore the challenge of having to do the Swiss in the Early era, where you dont have the luxury of pikemen or SAPs. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I do believe the first 'Installation and descriptive Readme' link is what you are refering about. I tried version 2.0 of the No Units mod, but got frustrated with the idiot Byzantine Emperor, and playing the Mongols crashes me out when I right click on certain buildings, so I stopped playing it for awhile.
Wes was my insperation for making Kekvit Mod, and I must thank him with all my heart for that. ^_^

Nope - never use 'em. The original versions are diverse and complicated enough for me without messing up my comp http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
I like to add foot knights. I also increase the income of provinces and remove trade, since the ai doesn't use in effectively. Plus the extra money pretty much eliminates the peasant armys.
I also like to use different factions like the Argonese, and I made an Irish faction mod that work decently well.

i usually change a few things, like eliminate the land bridge between wessex and flanders. once i gave my arquebusiers 1.00 accuracy and 10000 range, just to have fun
i used to play modded games, but since a recent bug pit me against my own emperor due to moding, ive sworn off all types of them, atleast untill a LOTR mod is created http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

sorry if this a very basic question but ... is there a way to play IA controled factions in the game, I would play The Aragonese if posible.
I am reading about mods and I know that they resize units, change some maps zones, ... but don't know if they can do a IA faction human available
thks.

a_ver, there are mods to do just about everything but butter your toast. Take a look at the Dungeon forum for announcements about the various mods people have done. One to check out is WesW's Med Mod (version 1.8?). I've read lots of good things about that one, but I don't know if it allows you to play all factions.
Ace of Shades

Mods I found where essential to play the best MTW campaign games.
Before I got VI I used to play a lot of different mods for MTW (Favourite probably was Medmod). However I made the mistake the first time of not backing up my orginal MTW files before modding the game, so I had to reinstall. It did make me think at the time though, would it be possible to make a mod manager? I've seen them for many other games and it did make things a lot easy in that you could play one mod then quickly change to another the next time you play. I know there are probems like some mods are almost total conversions and others make only minor alterations like making other factions playable. Is it possible though?

Hello Ace. Welcome aboard. Is the Shades part of your name indicate you are a member of Clan Shades? Or is it just coincidence?
Back in the WE/MI days, a few people wrote stats swappers for switching unit stats quickly for online play. Maybe the same concept would work for mods. Dunno though. Perhaps a mod-type-person can tell us.
If you never mod you are a bloody idiot http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif
MTW is a great game, but with modding it can be even better. Why be happy with what are some obvious flaws. In the X-pack the Sicilians are given Scottish names (while their correct list is just sitting in the Default_Heroes.txt file) mounted crossbows dont need a bowyer and can be built in Early, while normal crossbows must wait until High and need a bowyer2? Whats with the underground tunnel between France and UK (1,000 years early). Italy wasnt a seperate kingdom after 960 AD when Otto marched in and was decalred Holy Roman Emperor, yet in the offcial campaigns Italy is one large daction, rather than seperate city states of Geno, Venice, Milan, etc. Maybe a bit pedantic, but I can go on - you dont like being able to train feudal foot knights, or knights templar or be able to play the Mongols, Lithuania or the Teutonic Knights as major factions?
As I said earlier - bloody idiots http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif

Cheers for the welcome. The name is just conicidence, just one time when I was playing Half Life I meant to put Ace of Spades and spelt it wrong while typing quick (trying not to get killed in the process) and put Ace of Shades as my tag. And every since then its just stuck http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
I may look into the idea of a mod manager, I'm no big time modder though, but know C++. But I'll see what comes up with.

I play using a mod that myself and an internet-friend have made. I did the units side, mainly, and he made the actual campaigns.
In this personal mod, ships take a lot less time to build (1 year for tiny ships, 2 for Baggala/Caravel equivalent, 3 years for... and on), Almughavars are available in Navarre and Aragon, Hobilars are renamed to Hobelars and can dismount, Highland Clansmen have higher morale and are fast (but more expensive), anyone can train Vikings and Longboats as long as they own a Scandinavian province (and some Russian ones), Scottish Light Cavalry, Dismounted Hobelars and Welsh Longbowmen are some of the new units (along with Ghent Militia), Longbows are more accurate, faster to reload and longer range, Arbalesters are Late Period only, Burgundy is a faction to play, all the other factions are playable...
There are a lot of other changes too. I think it improves the standard v1.1 game no end, and I'm sure I'll be putting these changes in again after getting VI.
I would like a mod to transfer some factions from VI into the Europe map.
Irish (Ireland, playable)
Scottish (Scotland, playable)
Welsh (Wales, playable. I don't know if to take away the Welsh bandits and place longbowmen instead...)
Vikings (Norway, keep this pagan And not steppe pagan images of course, but the Viking images. Don't remove the Danish, they will be the first opponent http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif This should also be playable of course)
Another civ Lithuanians (would it be possible to mod a new civ? Well... they should be pagan, not Orthodox lol, they did not convert until 1386. Don't make them look mongol though. Rather Viking than Mongol.)
In my mod Interregnum I have added Lithuania, i also added in the Vikings army unit icon (i.e. guy on horse holding a sword) as the Pagan (GHorde) and Catholic ones werent really appropriate, also they have Pagan religion.
I am also working on a mod set in 950 ad with Scots, Welsh, Norway, Saxons, Normans, Sweden, Magyars, etc. (10 completely new factions all up) but i am still refining and resting it.

i mainly play my own mods, and the teutonic order one. i'm getting fed up with modding at the moment coz i'm sure i'm doing it right but my new campaign won't work no matter how small the mod i make to it
and yes, i 've read almost every related post in th dungeon, and followed their instructions as wel, still can' get it to work, oh well. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

mine will be out soon now
I always play with Wes's mod. I used it before VI and I have been using his one for VI since he released it.
I don't really have the time or inclination to mod myself (other than playtest for others) and so I am happy to get something that makes the game play harder.
