Has anybody found any historical characters in the Viking campaign yet? I found one Giric of Alba with Lawman virtue while playing the Scots.

Quote[/b] ]878 - King Rhodri Mawr of Gwynedd, Powys and Seisyllwg returns to his kingdoms, but is killed fighting the Mercians of King Ceolwulf II. His kingdoms are divided amongst his three sons, Anarawd, Merfyn and Cadell respectively. The Vikings winter in Dyfed. Death of King Run of Strathclyde. His son, Eochaid, succeeds to the throne and allies himself with his mother's cousin, King Giric of Alba. The two rule all Scotland together as joint-monarchs.

Fairly far into my Irish campaign now, had just passed the 900 mark when Corman MacCullenan showed up. Max loyalty, 3 dread, 5 command stars, 3 acumen, virtue of Honest. Showed up on a group of mounted nobles too, suprised me. The sad thing is hes my best general so far this game, with generals dieing as soon as I start to get one built up good he gets weaker. Anyway, heres some history on him.

Edit-Apparently there were two Cormac MacCullenans. The next turn I got a Corman MacCullenan with 7 loyalty, 6 piety, 3 dread, 4 command stars, 3 acumen, with virtue of Devout. Maybe the first is him as King, the second is him as Bishop? Either way, i'm afraid to put them both in same stack for fear of them spotaneously combusting or something.

Cormac MacCuilenan
(836-908).

An Irish bishop and King of Cashel, Cormac MacCquilenan was of the race of Eoghanact, of Southern Ireland, and in his early years received a good education in one of the Irish schools. He was ordained priest, and afterwards appointed Bishop of Cashel. In the year 900 he became, on account of his descent, King of Cashel, and thus were combined in his person the two offices of spiritual and temporal ruler of Leth Moga, as the southern portion of Ireland was called. The ardri (high king), Flann, assisted by the King of Leinster, led his forces into the Southern Province (906), and was met by the Munstermen under Cormac at Moylena (Tullamore). The ardri suffered a signal defeat. Later on, however (908) Flann, assisted by Ceorbhall, King of Leinster, and Cathal, King of Connaught, returned to the attack, apparently because Cormac, instigated by Flaherty, Abbot of Inniscathay, had claimed tribute from Leinster, and had even signified his intention of assuming the position of ardri. The battle was fought at the present Ballymoon; the Munstermen suffered a complete defeat and Cormac was killed in the battle.

thx BDC for Giric info.

I did some more research on Giric of Alba on the net, and I stumbled on the name Kenneth MacAlpin. Apparently this guy was crowned king of both Scots and Picts in 843. I played Scots up to 883 when I finished it, but I never found him. Being such a significant person, I would think that he should be a historical character in this game.

Or maybe he's a Pict? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
