Does anyone know what language is used in the names of the provinces in Britain in VI? Is it an old form of english? Brithonic? Or is it a Nordic language, as the theme of the game is Vkings. The names of the Welsh provinces sound very similar to their actual Welsh names (Gwynedd - Guined; Powys - Pouis; Dyfed - Defet), but they're not quite right.

I'm just curious. Anyone know?

I don't know this for certain at all, but it does look like they use the names the inhabitants of that time would have used. The names change in style depending in where in the country you are looking. The Welsh names do look Celtic, and the Viking ones are very distinctive. Another clue that there are more that one language being used is the sea areas - there is more than one word for 'sea' used.

The names for the Anglo-Saxon provinces are definitely Old English, and the names for the Scandinavian provinces and many of the sea areas (the ones ending in -saer) are Old Norse. I can't read any Celtic languages, but I assume that the Welsh provinces are accurate as well.

what about the battle languages?

what language do the soldiers speak in battle?

I hope they're not still speaking poorly pronounced Latin http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif
