View Full Version : New Strategy guide
Does anybody know if a new guide is coming out that covers the original game and the expansion pack?

Most of the stuff out there covers both pretty well, wait a bit, and things will start cropping up

There is a Prima Guide for the original game, but I doubt that they would revise it and reissued for the new game. I saw a couple of copies a my local Software, Etc. store just the other day and they might be marked down by now. I agree with everyone else that most guides are prettly lame
I hate to admit this, but like a sucker, I bought the guide when I bought the original game. The store knocked $10 off the price of the game and manual together, and this was after the original game had been marked down to $20, so I got them both for $30 total.
While I wouldn't particularily recommend most game guides, this one is actually better at helping to understand the game than the crappy US game manual. It does give a lot of troop stats and while it only has a page or two devoted to some very general strategies for each clan, it does have a page of stats and info devoted to each and every province in aphabetical order. I do still refer to that every once in awhile.
Cheers

Forward,
I agree - I also have the Prima guide (got nearly the same deal as you - but the game was 45 bucks! ARGH!) and the province runthru's are bloody nice. Its not nearly as complete as, say - the old Master of Magic strat guide Prima published, but it does add a bit to the play of the game for me.
Qapla!

They are making you pay $10 more just to get a decent manual with the game. That is also the usual reason for the included manual's crappiness - to make people buy the guide.
This is by no means a flaw of STW alone (in STW we have the Way of the Daimyô, which makes up for a lot), or even just EA games. It happens all the time. I just (more than) occasionally get tired of the fact that I get crappy manuals with my games because all the useful stuff has been shifted to the strategy guide, which are never even sold in Finland.
