and now for some good news...
http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

I have created a series of SP campaign variants for the Mongol Campaign era, http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/cool.gif

All feature the Mongol as the agressor
- meaning you'll get the most challenge and fun from playing the Japanese,

All feature multiple clans, sadly not Oda, the Mongol uses Oda's spot in the clan selection.

The premise behind constructing the campaigns being :-
What if the Hojo clan had not 'unified' Japan? would the samurai have survived?
- and i needed a plausable sounding excuse - http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

All are self contained, they require no changes to any of your existing files, simply add the files and folders to your ../campmap/statpos folder. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
(there is a read_me folder with instructions PLUS hints and tips gathered from playtesters) http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

You won't be able to see who is allied with who, this appears to be 'switched' off by the start year, also Yari Ashi are not able to be built - but then you'd have to be insane to try to hold back the horde with Ashi. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/rolleyes.gif

They are designed to be hard on normal settings,
They can be beaten.

Ironman starts the player off in a clan of his choice with a single province and limited resources, expand quickly and wisely.
Want a campaign that is definately NOT going to be a pushover? This is it!

JDD (Japan's Darkest Days), starts the player with a few provinces and a little bit more in the way of resources, but the mongol re-inforcements in 1275 will be larger than normal, 1276 may also see an increase.
You will have to eliminate some of your 'rivals' before you can truly tackle the invaders.

This is the 'standard' campaign, hard fought, but not impossible!

JDD SE (Japan's Darkest Days : Special Edition),
is, well, Special !!!
- want to see the effects of muskets or monks vs the Mongol Horde?
Then this is the variant for you!
(This variant is designed to be pure fun, definately not for a historical fanatic
- hey! i just described me!)

Remember all are designed to be hard on normal settings, all can be won, all are meant to be played as the Japanese!

These campaigns are meant to be fun, pure and simple!

They can be downloaded from http://www.totalwar.org/

I have successfully downloaded them and placed them in the right folders (they are available choices in my game). I will be enjoying them right after i finish testing and refining my two own personal campaigns (thanks to hecose's nice campaign editor).

So Barocca, thanks for your work in advance, i will be sure to give you my impressions.

Hosakawa Tito:
once you have extracted the files and folders from the zip file,
You need to place these folders and files inside the
../WarlordEdition/campmap/startpos/
folder for STW/WE,

hope this helps

here is a file listing of my folder
d:\Total War\Warlord Edition\campmap\startpos

folders
[1-ReadMeFirst-1]
[IronMan]
[Japan's Darkest Days]
[Japan's Darkest Days SE]
[Sengoku Jidai]
[Starting at 1530]
[Starting at 1550]
[Starting at 1580]
[The Mongol Invasion]

files
IronMan.txt
Japan's Darkest Days SE.txt
Japan's Darkest Days.txt
Sengoku Jidai.txt
Starting at 1530.txt
Starting at 1550.txt
Starting at 1580.txt
The Mongol Invasion.txt

as long as your campmap/starpos folder looks like this they should all show up!

When you extract from the zip files you use all the preset folders?

What you should get after extracting from the zip is a folder called :-
The_Campaigns

the contents of the folder should look like this

folders
[1-ReadMeFirst-1]
[IronMan]
[Japan's Darkest Days]
[Japan's Darkest Days SE]

files
IronMan.txt
Japan's Darkest Days SE.txt
Japan's Darkest Days.txt

simply copy this entire directory structure inside the folder The_Campaigns to campmap/starpos folder so it looks like the first example above,

does this help?

Thanks Barocca,I finally figured it out. I didn't realize I had to extract each campaign out of that folder into the campmap/startpos folder(so much work http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/rolleyes.gif ).You've probably forgotten more about operating computers than I have ever known. The last time I copied and pasted was in the 3rd grade lol.So I learned something new tonight. Can't wait to try these new campaigns. Thanks again!
