Hi all,

I finally got the VI and spent most of the weekend with the unit production files from CA. (For some reason they don’t work for me at all so some modifications are needed for the quotes and to incorporate all the new features I have created over the past 3 months that I deal with them like boat power calculation, new weapons … etc.)

Some things that I found.
1. A unit appearing in both files should have the same stats in both of them Else that game crashes. So I have built both the Viking and the normal Crusaders files http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
2. While deep in the files and looking at the tables I found a number of new missiles, like thawing spears. What does this mean … in MTW you could not built a unit like the Imperial Legions the reason being that you could not give a unit a missile type with ammo set at 1 (the game would automatically increase to ~8). Apart from that a Powerfull_bow and Powerfull_MTL_BOW were in the table. A good bet was to represent the eastern composite bows When I tried to use them the game came with an error Apparently they are not coded in the Projectiles file???? (no unit uses them ether)
3. I have read that you can have 10 folders for the new sprites … what are the names of these folders???
4. And finally (for those that used the campaign tool) I have checked the new campaign files. They seem strait forward so I will incorporate the new features in the campaign tool soon. So adding a faction or building a campaign will not be a problem.

Nobody really interested or nobody knows the answers ?????
Here is un other problem … in IV I made a unit of Byz swordsmen (since the Byz infantry was transformed in to a spear unit) The problem is that they all look and work well except that when in battle the unit icons are all blank???????

About the throwing spears, does it mean a unit has 1 spear and if it throws it, it won't have one in combat? Or just 1 ammo and combat isn't affected?

You created a new unit-entry in the Crusader file, right? This new entry also needs a unit icon. You can use the old one, but you need to rename it to fit your new unit.

The missile is a different thing from the main weapon. In MTW tried to force I ammo for the missile but always they had more ~8. So units like the Legionnaires could not work OK since they only got 1 chance to through and the retreated Now they will through and then fight The weapon they fight can be anything depends on what you have given them.

You actually need to copy / make three pic’s (2 BIFs, 1 LMB). Now I have made these other wise the game gives an error and crushes … BUT now when I use them in battle all the icons disappear so I get a set of empty squares?????
