Finally got an online game... looking for more...

hello all...

well, thanks to Blackangel Rokkaku and Zyrudder Yamana, i have finally played STW online... it proved to be a real test, as i found myself attacking these 2 formidable opponents over the bridge in Chikugo... needless to say, i was handed a decisive defeat, but not before hanging on for a good 25 minutes of down and dirty bridge melee... gah the carnage... Zyrudder had to split after that, but Blackangel hung around and hosted a 1v1, this time on the open fields of Bizen... i had a bit more success this time, but regardless of the outcome, it was another 25 minutes of constant battle, and Blackangel, again, was one tough opponent... So, thanks for the games, you two... it was a lot of un and i hope to run into both of you in the future...

OK, well, with those two battles under my belt, i'm ready for more... i'll be checking in on the Foyer as often as i can, especially on sundays, but if anyone reading this would like to set up a battle sometime, please feel free to contact me...

True, true... like i said, it was my first MP battle, so i didn't want to over-step my bounds as a "newb" by putting conditions on it... i just thought OK, i'm sure i can't win, but i'll give it my best shot. I did kill more of them than i lost, but 1920 vs 960 is tough to overcome even without a bridge; the numbers were just too many. Still, i've always been a "toss the kid in the water to teach him how to swim" kind of guy, so i tossed myself in... my next battle, a 1 vs 1 against one of the two that had just beaten me, seemed like a cake-walk in comparison, and i emerged victorious. So toss me in the water anytime; i may drown, but i'll always go down kicking and looking for a way to swim out...

I tried to set it up teh other day, but it wouldnt work. It seems you have to use dial-up, as opposed to broadband. anyone got a way around this? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

FWIW, i'm running on Verizon DSL through a 4-port Linksys router and have had no problems getting into the Foyer... just in case it was overlooked, did you check the box that says "use existing internet connection"? i know this may seem too obvious, and i apologize if this is of no use to you, but if you don't check that box before you "log on", the program will try to connect through a dial-up modem by default... hope this is useful, but if not, i assure you, STW will work with broadband; you may have to tweak something or other to get it to work, but it will work... you might also check the Apothecary for some fixes...

Gratis tip from me, musketeers, YS and ND as far as infantry troops are concerned, anything else is too expensive in MP.
