I cannot run the game; whenever I start it I get the following message:

Unknown faction specified: column 20 row 8

FN_EGYPTIAN

Does anyone know how to fix it?

Hi CrusaderMan, welcome to the.Org http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

Sounds like one of your unit files got corrupted. Usual solution is uninstall/re-install.

Hi all http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Can I find these files somewhere else? It will take ages to reinstall.

Have you modded or used mods with MTW?

I uninstalled and then reinstalled MTW before I installed VI. I had changed so many things that I knew it would give VI problems.

With this type of error I assume you are using a regular MTW campaign with VI installed. The files are slightly different between 1.1 and 2.0.

Its a pain but I would suggest uninstall and reinstall. I don't think the 2.0 files are online yet.

Sounds like a debug error with the early.txt file.

well, *grumble* i cant find anything any more. i posted about this somewhere.

you have to get rid of the modded startpos files in your mtw game first. actually, i think you can just remove them after you install vi also. just move them out of the folder, the modded ones, and it shld work fine then.

if you didnt have any modded files in mtw and you know mtw was working just fine prior to your viking install, just install vikings again. this shld correct it. if not, then look at the readme file that comes with vikigns and follow their tech support stuff.

but the egyptian message is a known error message when you have a modded mtw startpos file. there's nothing wrong with vikings in this case.

if you wish to save your modded mtw stuff, then again, look at the readme file on how to set up a dual install of mtw and mtw vikings.
