I have been tring to mess around with the number for the ship abbilities in the unit_prod file. But seems it is hard coded for VI, no matter what the number I've changed, it still comes out to be the same defult ones.
It worked ok for the origional MTW 1.1.
Am I missing something? or there is a trick for doing it?

Nope, I've easily modified a barque to have 6 speed and 6 defense as a test.
Were you using the Gnome editor? If so, column 55 of the ship's attributes have their stats. The first number is their Range (how many spaces they can move), second is Attack, third is Defense, Fourth is Speed, and Fifth is Strength. Dont ask me why strength is 0 for all ships, I dont know.

Open it up in Notepad and see if you can get it.

Now I know what's going on.
The stats about the ship is a bit different with the units.
For any unit, if you change the stats in unit_prod file, the old unit already produced will take the new stats. But the old ship will keep their old stats and only the new ship produced has the new stats.
Now I can sleep
