About the Greeks [Archive]

Will there be a faction called "Greece" or will we have the separate city-states as factions - Sparta, Athens, Corinth, etc.? Has anyone heard?

I believe CA said that there will be 'nations', who will have the same architecture and art .etc, eg Rome, Greece, but these will be subdivided into 'factions', eg. Spatans, Athenians. So, I think, Greece will be divided.

CA said there will be six cultures which will contain 21 playable factions all together.

Sparta didn't have a last stand - they disappeared into obscurity because their social system alloed people to get booted out of the ruling class quite easily and made it almost impossible for anyone to get back in - so their ruling class got smaller and smaller until it effectively disappeared - and Sparta as an entity along with it

hmmm, no fans of Athens or Crete here?

Trojan war might be a nice expansion...

Sparta would be my first choice. Conquer the other city states and let the softer peoples fill the daily needs of society and provide numbers for the army while Sparta forms the elite core of the army and strong government.

speaking of expansions based on (mostly) on myth here comes another shameless plug for Tolkiens Silmarillion as the follow up for Rome.

It could even be timed for release one year after Return of the King - DVD hype and talk about the inevitable Hobbit movie.

thermopylae would be a nice historical battle indeed , although its rather difficult to create i think.

I don't understand what you'd do at Thermopylae. It was just a steep hill on which the Spartans and a few other cities fought on. You'd basically just put them on hold position and accelerate time until they died.

Yeah, I read that and I was thinking the same thing. Oh well. I just wanna be some sort of Greeks; I don't have my heart set on Spartans specifically.
