Basically the title says it all. I used the same methods as with the regular campaign startpos files.

I didn't do too much to the file. I added Merchants to the Viking provinces, and eliminated all the Muster Fields. Cleaned up the faction titles, too. That's it, other than the section at the beginning of the file which refers to the Changes.txt titles, which appear in the Selection Screen. And the new Prod files, of course.

I have checked all the spelling, so there is no problem in that area.

Here are the startpos lines:

//========================================
//campaign name: can either be text or a
//label. Set predefined accordingly
//========================================
cn_predefined::false
cn_title::"MM Viking Period"
cn_short_title::"MM Viking Period Short"

Prodfiles:: UNITPROD "MM_Viking_Camp_NoUnits_unit_prod.txt" BUILDINGPROD "MM_Viking_Camp_NoUnits_build_prod.txt"

Here are the changes.txt additions:

["MM Viking Period"]
{"MM Vikings"}

["MM Viking Period Short"]
{"MM Vikings"}

I have not made any changes to any of the other Viking files.

Hate to sound silly but is the Merchant building available to pagans?

IIRC Gnome won't open the Viking Building file so could there be an additional data field with attendant tab intolerances?

I first tried to clean up the files and couldn't get my campaign to show up either. Had to leave them messy to get it to work.

Yes, since I have built Merchants as the Vikings before.

The factions are now designated by an "FN_" prefix whenever they appear in any of the text files, and something else in the startpos files has a suffix. I think it was in the neighbors section. Makes it very aggravating to paste stuff in from the 1.1 version.

I found the problem. I had added ports to the Viking provinces when they were already given below.

It's odd, because this would not have caused any problems with the 1.* versions of the game. There were many instances of double entries with the original files.

I'v noticed that before it was not a problem
to have double entries.
Well not one that would do that.
That's a new one.
