I have found a webpage
http://home.soneraplaza.nl/qn/prive/k.ypma/campaign.html
which has a picture of a your beheaded emissary! Is this a fake, like the famous "battle for Totomi airfield"?
The page says this happens when you propose a treaty to a clan just after attacking him, but for the life of me I can't get this to happen.
I have tried various combinations of this, but I can't get it to happen:
1. Successfully attacking a clan right on the turn right after having had an alliance accepted.
2. Unsuccessfully attacking a clan right on the turn right after having had an alliance accepted.
3. Attacking an clan successfully, THEN proposing an alliance on the turn immediately following.
4. Attacking an clan UNsuccessfully, then proposing an alliance on the turn immediately following.
I'm a total failure! I've never been able to get my alliances rejected! (The closest I get is having a ninja kill my emissary, but that's something else.)
Perhaps this throne room sequence was deleted with the patches because it was too graphic?
Anybody know? How can I get this to happen? I want my emissaries decapitated!

My poor warrior, risking your reputaion and the life of your pathetic emissary just for your own curiousity of the truth! Well, now I'm gonna tell you how it's done. Keep attacking your opponent, or just keep a horrible relationship. after maybe one or two years, send a emissary to them. And you'll definitely have his head back in time for dinner. The other way is to take on a religion that's opposite of the enemy's. For instance, if he is a Buddist, the become christian, if you buddist, he must be christian.

Okay, I'll definitely give it a try.
One more thing: I don't suppose there's any way of beheading the OTHER guy's emissary? I don't think so, but every once in a while this game surprises me.

As far as I know, there is no way to behead the computer's emmisary. All you can do is either accept or reject their offer, at which point a rejection will get you little more than a "may you come to buddah's hand some day" smart-ass remark. Why is it always in these kind of games that you get repeatedly abused by the computer, yet you can't return the favor? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
oh, BTW, you haven't killed off any Daimyos just to see the diamyo succession scene... have you? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

I remember it was suggested a while back that you should be able to use your geisha to kill enemy emissaries. Rather than simply send him away, you could click on the geisha and she would kill the unfortunate emissary. Perhaps this will appear in the expansion pack? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

If you guys have built up enough to get geishas and you're still playing around with alliances (or you still have enemies powerful enough to warrant making alliances), then you're doing something wrong, or at least very very slowly.
I always make alliances with as many enemy clans as I can. After all, you never know when you might need a ceasefire (to redeploy in) and its easier to get one if you have previously been on friendly terms. Also, every know and again you end up with lands on the opposite side of the map when one ally finishes off another! Not to be sniffed at. Theres no reason not to make alliances since there is no penalty for breaking them while there might be some benefits. Never trust the AI though.
Geishas do only appear if the game has gone on rather to long, and I hate them. They completely ruin the end game if anyone starts using them. In fact I believe they exist merely to help bring the game to a close, rather than have it drag unhistorically on for centuries!

Allainces sure do help when it comes to defeated allies. Once, while playing Uesugi, the allied Oda were destroyed fairly early on, and I was left with a good size of his eastern territory and some units. Knowing I couldn't realistically hold on to Oda's former lands, I grouped my new forces staged a 16th century blitzkreig back to Mutsu, straight through some of Imagawa, Takeda and Hojo's more developed provinces! We burnt a few dojos that day.

Since you guys told me how to do this, I've been experimenting with it. The whole point of my last campaign, for instance, was that every single emissary be beheaded.
I've noticed that Oda will do this readily, but one clan that I can't get to do it for ANYTHING is the Shimazu.
I seem to remember getting several heads back from the Shimazu and getting really pissed. Let me check this out...

You guys have it all wrong,
Back at the community site I had a thread about using the Throne room Geisha not the Geishas in the game. I mean she just sits there for god's sake, why not make her earn her keep! In case you didn't know it the Throne room Geisha's always there http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

anybody mind telling me what the URL for that community site is that everybody keeps talking about?
I thought this was the most popular Shogun forum.

I've found that the best way to get an emissary beheaded is to keep proposing an alliance to a daimyô who really doesn't want one. A hostile one, in other words. Invariably, the Emissary will soon report that "it was only the daimyô's good mood that allowed me to leave with my head." Then have him bother the daimyô once more and... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
And the STW Community site URL is http://www.totalwar.com/community/index.htm . Click on "Forum" in the left frame and you're off to the second most popular STW forum there is.
