Well after having one more crashy day I actually made the effort and looked at all my logfiles since VI started.

Out of 123 games played :

90 ended with battle fought to close
25 games crashed
8 games crashed because user quit

So it doesnt look too bad BUT :

out of the 90 games which went well 31 were single player.
Of the crashes only one was single player ( might have been Andys sucky link http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif )

So basically for larger games one game out of 3 crashes/ quits etc .... On certain days all the games crash one after another .. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

PS :I host most of my games and have a better than average link ( 2.5 Mb ADSL )

Of my 89 MP VI v2.0 games (3v3 and 4v4), 69 were completed, 17 had a lost connection during the battle which crashed the game for everyone, one failed to launch (a player crashed), and two had a player quit during deployment (player crashed I believe). I have a cable modem connection.

If this is a post reguarding the amount of legitimate posts at my work....then count me out. I have a bunch of workers who pay attention to the laws, not a single one gets any recognition....not the golf courses' fault.

I used to keep a log of the different battles, how many disc, who wins, all this kind of stuff.

Between my first VI game on May 9th, and June 12th, I had 128 games of which 40 were not fought to close. 88 games were completed.

Most were 4v4, but on the other hand I play mostly 4v4...

This is the kind of support I expect from a game.

It was a long and gruelling process to train my Celtic warrior Semredan the use of large weapons. I invested many hours into training the warrior, and making close friends for him in the alternate reality of Hibernia (http://www.camelotherald.com). He fought pretty well against the enemies of his Celtic nation, and finally the day came when his guild of warriors requested his help in battle. About 120 warriors, bards, rangers, baldemasters, champions, heroes and emchanters assembled for a raid through hostile Azure (http://camelot.allakhazam.com/)territory. The object of the raid: looting.

We split into different groups and marched off. Even though there were more than 120 different people connected through the server on screen there was virtually ZERO lag. Dont forget the server controlled enemy on screen made a total of more than 180. During the raid a message was broadcast by an allied commander that ALL our keeps in the northern frontier are under attack by player controlled enemies from the enemy realm of Albion (http://daoc.catacombs.com/).

The entire raiding party sprinted back to the nearest stables in friendly territory, mounted their steeds and charged at full gallop to the only frontier keep not under attack. The guild, alliance and private message screen flurried with frantic reports of combatants from all parts of the realm reporting for combat..while our rangers continued to report on the status of our keeps while remaining hidden from the enemy....Xpecc (warrior-hero): incoming Druim Ligen with full tank group.......Tibolt (warden-naturalist): incoming Druim Ligen full support group....Semredan (warrior-champion) incoming Druim Ligen full attack group......Tevran: (ranger hidden near a keep under attack)....hurry people the main gate is almost down....3 full attack groups heading south.....incoming Druim Ligen......... As the warriors rode past towns and villages yelling " All head north to frontier "....the columns of horses swelled with other combatants eager and impetous for the fight.

Once we arrived at the main frontier fort (Druin Ligen ofc)...total chaos....too many players online .....a battle of insane proportions to repel the enemy from our frontier....Semredan leads his group straight into the fight...flanking the main enemy to reach the enemy longbow armed scouts of the flanks who are raining arrows on friendly forces...the job of a hero or champion is to go into battle and intercept any threat to the more im portant healing and spell casting classes of the realm...the heroes or champions must ensure that all siege equipment and any critical assets do not fall into enemy hands....the group races up the hill swords drawn,,and clash with the enemy scouts...cutting them to pieces on impact...now the groups turn it's attention to the main battle...charging in with unparralled fury...into what seems the strongest enemy platoon....during this fight ....something goes wrong and before the heroes and champions can meet their certain, valiant death..the SERVER CRASHES LOL

Anyway thought I should include that combat story which was truly an awesome event.. there were so many players in that battle...it was almost impossible to tell friend from foe. The server clearly could not handle the stre.. what had happened was that a spy had discovered Hibernia will be on a raid at that time and as such all resources will be diverted there. The enemy realm of Albion mobilised all firepower to attack Hiberniw...Hibernia countered and basically 70% of the 3000 or so people on that server headed for the same combat zone

That was the first crash I experienced in this great game. here is the apology I receved in my email 1 day later (Excalibur is the name of the server):

Greetings,

Excalibur encountered, from the afternoon of Sunday 29th to Monday 30th, a
serious technical problem, which prevented players to connect despite the
immediate actions of our technical team. The problem has been solved on
Monday 30th June afternoon.
Because of the long shutdown of the Excalibur server, many English players
were unable to play; we decided to offer a free day to all the English
players with an active account. This free day will be added to your current
subscription period. Once again, please accept our most sincere apologies.

Yours sincerely,
European Dark Age of Camelot Customer Support

DAMM Even with that server crash I cannot get over how cool that battle was. Anyway the point is that there was instant support and the problem was resolved, apology messages sent out etc....can't wait till next battle.

I formatted my HD recently. What I can tell you is that at least 30% of MTW MP games I played, crashed. Due to whatever reason. Problem is that sometimes it was multiple crashes in a row. Enough to drive anyone away from MP. I will try to keep a watch on the log from now on.

Of 228 VI games, 180 completed, 39 connection lost and 9 false starts. That's 79% completed, 17% terminated during battle due to a drop or quitter and 4% drop before deployment. I had 93 4v4, 108 3v3, 23 2v2 and 4 1v1.
