Hi all,

This is my cuestion. You send a couple of assassin to the same target, both have a 10 % of success rate, then what do you have ?

- One event with 20 % of success rate or,

- two separated events with 10 % of success rate.

Which is the best strategy to use assassins ...

Roger.

Hello

You have 2 separate events.

I dislike having to pick them one at a time, but when I do use them I go as far as targeting kings.

Yes, it's two seperate events

I once send out a sh*tload of assasins to a king that was really annoying me, think it was something like 12 assasins at once And after that I kept building new assasins in all my provinces and send those to him as well and after they got him I send them after his sons and after that after his grandsons etc. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Just as long as his bloodline died out... he really annoyed me http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

The king didnt have border forts?

I don't remember really, guess not. But they all got to him eventually. Cost me a fortune and a lot of time to build up that army of assasins... but it was worth it after all the enemies (the Italians IIRC) lands fell into rebel factions

Other than that I mostly only use assasins in my own provinces to protect against unwelcome visitors like Inquisitors.

then, as conclusion, offensive assassins are not a good offensive weapon, are they ?

Does the sucess rate factor in the border forts?

Indeed. Good conclusion. But in this case the king was also stuck on an island I couldn't reach, so they came in handy.

Sometimes I also use them to eliminate a loyal, hard to bribe general whose army I am trying to bribe. They can come in very handy for that as well.

Dunno, usually they dont do anything on medieval, but I managed to assassinate the King of Frnace the other day first try http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Assassins are very cool (especially in VI now when they now can be trained at higher valor).

I haven't tried using an army of lower level assassins on one target, but I assume that after a few assassination attempts he would start to get negative paranoid-style vices.

Nice hat-trick there Sinan http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif I use assasins in kind of a ladder system. I send the new ones to the emissaries, princesses or bishops/imams. Once they are up to 3 valour (approx. every 1 of 4 makes it) they start picking on generals, and even kings. Its a pity I didnt photograph em. BTW, I've learnt that taking screenies is F2 button but where do I see the pics I took? is there a folder?

Cheers

Ahh good ole Thorbjorn The Priest...

Was he ever killed himself?

For me I had guy of Gisbourne up to Six Stars, and he was my best assassin. Sadly he was snagged by a Border Fort and have to give way for someone else who was Five Star. (I don't like reloading from a saved game)
