Hello everyone,

My first mod has gone OK - replaced Novgorod with the Russians as a major faction in Early. Everything seems OK - starting units, heirs, tech tree all appear to function OK. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I made all the Novgorod units available to the Russians (seems only fair), so they get to make Vikings & Rus Spearmen. Love those Rus Spearmen - very tough unit in Early.

Only problem is that the text when selecting Russia in Early says This faction is not playable in this time period...etc. Is there a text file tucked away somewhere that has this info? Is it hackable? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif

Found it:

//Medieval - Total War/Loc/Eng/changes.txt

The same text layout is in /startpos.txt as well, but the updates there didn't work for me. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

Copied the Russian High text into Russian Early in changes.txt and it works a treat. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Just about every bit of text in the game appears to be in the various text files in the /Eng directory somewhere. This game is a dream to mod. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif
