One thing I think would just b funny on RTW, if you are being assaulted by an opposing faction and they're scaling your castle walls via ladders and there is a fierce battle raging on the walls, I hope people will fall down off the walls, or the walls can b destroyed and people tumble down.

Well, I think some preview said they saw guys being hurled of the walls by defenders, andthere's no doubt that if you knock down a wall with defenders they will die. Something similar happens in MTW when there are guys under a wall you knock down.

Yeh, when the wall crumbles some of you men can get flattened by the falling debry. But in 3d that wud just b soo funny to see someone get punched and hurled down below http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

Maybe even the possibility for defenders on the walls to push over the ladders, that would be nice as well http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

They'd need some sort of pole to push the ladders over... Maybe a spearman could do it?

Think they actually had some special fork shaped poles for that. But maybe the more historical peeps can comment on that.

I only just today suffered my first major losses to a wall collapse...

A unit of 60 Viking Landsmen moving to defend the spot where the wall of my fort was being attacked & boom, there goes half my unit http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/shock.gif
Then, to dig it in, the survivors set up to defend the breach & got clobbered again by the second & final collapse.
Left me with 13 guys & a big nasty hole http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

Previously I'd only seen a few deaths that way.
Totally looking forward to wall collapses with R:TW http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Especially now that there is gonna be people on the walls http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif

If you look carefullym the 2nd movie from gamespot shows people falling off as wall collapses.

Maybe there could be a way to perform the classic 'dig hole under wall-put wooden props up-set fire to props-wall goes boom' tactic? A sappers unit of somekind?

There are going to be sappers ... Michael de Plater mentioned something about a unit of this kind somewhere http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Only problem with that is that it takes so long to do it. Certainly more than a few days.

Maybe you could set it in motion on the strat map, but the wall would only actually be 'collapsed' during the assault.

Thats just a marketing ploy for the trailer. It sounds so much more believable in the current predominant language. Don't forget that they have apparently recorded 400 voice overs per culture Time to brush up on the old latin... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Doesn't one of the shots show Romans scaling the wall on ladders when a catapult strikes the wall nearby which collapses and drops one of the ladders? Unintended consequences are cool http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I heard it mentioned earlier...
