finally STW WE,

now a question ,i hate when this happens sometimes when the battle begins some units start moving by itself ,ussually archer units breaking up my perfect order, they are NOT fleeing just moving by it self http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif

I've noticed said problem with MI. I think it may be that you've (and I've) placed units too close together and they don't like it, although I don't see why not. It usually happens to me on bridge maps when I've got many units clustered around a small point.

Zone,

Your exactly right. If your units are too closely packed when placed they will move on their own to a new position. However ,watch them, for they will move a good clip farther than they need to before they stop. Its very necessary to keep a close eye on them due to this habit. When possible, use the group drag and place function to insure maximimum line integrity with minimum space. Get slightly closer and you will see the undirected movement...

Qapla!

This "feature" annoys the Hell out of me. I was playing around with Thunderbombers in wedges as a form of bridge defence... made them into a "semicircle of doom", so that all of them (maybe 10 units) were in range of the bridge (evil, I know). But, when the battle started, the buggers scattered all over and wouldn't respond to halt commands. It was still entertaining when the explosions happened, but it wasn't as nifty. =/

this can also happen if you deploy a unit half over a red zone tile. i was hoping i'd be able to find a stat we could edit that would also for closer spacing unit to unit, but so far, no luck.
