Ok i was just reading a few threads and ive watched all the videos again just for fun.
ok in the already great battle engine we can see quite clearly individual battles with men kicking punching etc.
now i was thinking wouldnt it be cool if u could adjust the speed of the game not just by makinmg it faster but going into bullet time
picture it, all but ur generals units are dead and the barabrian hordes are streaming in through the gates...
in a last act of defiance ur general and his bodyguard cry "FOR ROME" and then charge...
i realy think that would be a very good feature
ur opinions CA? and of course fellow orger's

That would be Great Maxinus Payne stylee There should also be the option to freeze the action dead, to see arrows flying through the air, the expressions on the mens faces, etc.
Pause has been in it since Shogun.
I thought the facial animation in the first video was faked aka not gonna be ingame?
Slow motion would be great http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Star Trek: Armada had a "cinematic view", or a picture-in picture window that displayed various battle actions at dynamic, moving camera angles. This wont appear in RTW, but it would be interesting as it would capture charges, arrow volleys, cav attacks etc.
Anyone else seen what I am talking about?

yes kongamato
armada II had it as well.
i think this slow motion would be especialy good during a siege when men r fighting for the walls.
*guy gets stabbed in the gut, he does some big dramatic stumble and falls of the wall

It would be real nice if they could pull off something like that, since that would make us all movie directors and at a lot of fun to the game. Especially when elephants are bowling on romans hehehe. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Yes, it might be a nice addition for the replays Don't know if it be of much use during actual play though But in replay... bring it on http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif
Very good idea.
This would be really great for replays.
In any case we need rewind for replays as well as a replay room where you can watch the same replay with friends online. Great way to share the fun, and discuss the battles.

Yeah, they need to add a kind of "editing room" where you can add all kinds of nice effects to a replay, change camera angles etc. So after a battle you can make a nice movie out of it. Now THAT would be nice Some of the race-games allready have features like that, I can remember Driver had something like that.

Maby you can have something like in the movie gladiator when the battle was won.
The image gets a little blurry and the framerate drops.
Most of the sounds of battle will fade away and you can only hear some screams of soldiers dying that echos trough the field...
+ some good music on the background and soldiers yelling victory crys like rome victor.
what do you think?
I cant believe that RTW was gonna make us all film directors. Imagine when you're in battle " Damn, the guys should be headed not that direction. CUT CUT

Brilliant idea, KY.
Slow motion? The game already moves in slow motion. waiting for your troops to march across the map, or rest up, is a slow, slow agony.
That is until battle commences, when all hell breaks loose and i cant seem to click/drag fast enought to keep up. on second thought, maybe it would be nice.

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif Yes, just holding back that attack untill the last possible second to give it that extra dramatic boost http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Well, it might just bring the Total War series into an entirely different dimension http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

I believe the upcoming Battlefield Command (an excellent looking game from 1C) includes this feature. I'm looking forward to that game quite a lot, actually.

I'm just going off the slow motion topic for a second... I thought ( I do that occassionally) that having a camera locked in just behind cavalry as they charge would look good.
Sort of like " follow projectiles" but with cavalry troops galloping into combat... do you think this would be good, bad, or are you indifferent???

I like.
But as I said before, there should be much more editing possibilities for the battle replays, so that you can place the camera wherever you like, use slow-mo's and all other kinds of neat effects to spice things up
Don't think there should be too many bells while in the actual battle though...
