ok. when you go into a battle on Medieval:Total War, there is the red loading bar. Mine always stops a few seconds after it starts, then the screen freezes. My computer then restarts. Ive been trying to figure this out for about 7 straight hours now, and ive tried ALOT of things. None of them have worked. I would please like ur ideas, A.S.A.P. because i really want to play this game. Thanks.

if you're on windows xp, go the black viper site, http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm and follow their instructions for turning off services and background tasks. i had a similar problem with another game and this did wonders for it. 'themes' in the services stuff is particularly bad about causing lags and crashes when playing big games like mtw.

i am on Windows 98. Forgot to mention that. Sorry guys.
I seem to recall having a similar problem once, have you patched you game?
Hmm, its odd that my medieval was kinda crapped up with the autosave thing. Everything worked perfectly and I could load everything except autosave which, when I loaded, kept crashing me back to windows. Anyone know why?

OK, then fella's...to get good tech tips here we have to give the techies something to work with, so they can make a decent, informed diagnosis. Kind of like talking to your Doctor; walking into his office and saying: I hurt. Fix me will get his sympathy, but little help, until he knows more.
Here's the best way:
1) state the problem, as best you can, as detailed as you can
2) describe your machine; minimum:
a)OS
b)vid card & driver version
c)sound card & driver version
d)processor type & speed
e)physical RAM
f)DirectX version
3) describe what you've tried to fix the prolem so far
The techies may ask more questions after that; but 75% of problems can be resolved with the info in 1,2 & 3 above.

Alright guys. Im being specific now, just like you told me to. First i will state my problem. Whenever you are about to go into a battle on Medieval:Total War, there is the red loading bar. Mine always freezes, and restarts my comp. I have tried fixing the resolution, I downloaded the patch, I tried to upgrade a new video card. Nothing worked. You also asked for my systems things. Well here they are. I have a Windows 98 with an ATI Rage Pro Turbo AGP Video Card, and a Crystal Clear 3D Sound Card. I have an AMD-KB-2/300 Processor. I have 64 MB of RAM, and I have DirectX 8.1. That is all the information I have. Please help. Thanks.

well, yer not gonna like this, but you're under minimum specs for the game. you need an upgrade to your machine...new motherboard, new cpu, new vid card, more memory. you might get it to work on that machine by turning off every possible option in windows, every possible option in the game and the most current drivers for sight and sound, but it's still going to be a very sluggish game even if you do get it to work.
sorry mate, but that's the bottom line on this one. you're trying to run a cadillac game on a volkswagon engine...just not enough power.
