Well any word on a patch? We've waited to identify bugs/needs, so is one forth-comming?

it seems to me CA deliberately aviod any threads where talk of a patch is. this game must be one of the games most in need of a "basic" patch ever. We, ok I dont want many changes.. just get rid of this crash bug mainly, and any outstanding bugs. forget balance for now, forget sp for a "first" patch (lol now im really dreaming).. just a basic patch fixing main MP problems would be fine. Then a detailed, balance, sp patch later. In this modern gaming industry is this really to much to ask? EVERY other game has that kind of support.. it saddens, and frustrates why my best game has to the only one thats different http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

Since now there are a few banned whiners, I think we should have some more whiners :mecry:
We paid the patch-that-need-patch full price. Please give a patch now :)
I am not saying v2.0 is bad, there are many improvements and I think it is better play than v1.1. But there are basic bugs that need to be patch, I agree.

That say it all
I agree that the technical bugs should be patched the very least.
so far not a whisper .. will there even be a patch??

Maybe we shall start making the laundry list... Focusing on technical bug first, and then eventually balance plug.
Shall be two different topics.
I would not like hearing 'there is a patch' and not getting a consensus on it in time...

I have news guys I just read about the patch for TW. It is gonna be called RTW. Just like after patch v1.1 we got the patch called VI Expansion. It was a steal at only $30 dollars for a complete patch. I mean they cut through all that v1.2 v1.3 etc...... and went straight to v2.0 . I mean thats nearly a whole .1 for every 3 dollars we spent. The next patch I assume will be atleast $40.
I feel abandoned and feed up with this stuff. I have lost much of my passion to play this game and only occasionally log back on to visit the friends I've made this past year. Other than that I have moved on to other games. To be quite honest I'm happy with another game I'm playing and part 2 is coming out in november so I'm not even certain if I will torture myself by purchasing RTW. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

It's up to activison to allow for a official patch, most likely there'll be none.
Paul : Please log on with 1.12 everyone please do http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif.
I have lost only 2 games since VI came out, 1 to a byz rush, and one very close match, very fun vs Fenrir...
Today Kuma and I won a match using only peasant-class units ;urban militia, militia sergs, mounted sergs, hobilars, spearman ;2 max. (and 3/4 pav arbs). Nowadays I see more mangonels on the battlefield than valour upgrades.
I need some players to kick my ass again, I'm starting to think I'm good http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif
Paul, what is the game you are playing with?
It is really sad that when i found a game different from evrytihng, it has so many problems...
I used to play Warcraft, Starcraft etc.. it is not so long the way for me to come back to those games... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif
And I am not so "excited" about Rome..
So, I make a proposal.
How much Activision will spend for a pacth?
I don't have any clue, but if they tell us, we will try to send them the money...
10 bucks for each player
Come on guys, just don't drink a beer this week end and you will have a new shining patch for your beloved game

i also think alike to paul. Mith i dont think his problem is with the gameplay.. or balance. I too really like the feel of VI, and find it much more fun that MTW. However.. the crash bugs, the constant dropping, the split community (servers) , and the forthcoming suffocation of VI is what i, and think paul is dissapointed with. With regular MP support/patches, and ONE server to play on this games online play would be in full swing, and active as hell it is now a slowly declining group of disgruntled vets.. annoyed with so many bugs/and dull, lifeless foyer and, excuse the phrase "noob quitters", who seriously kill the experience even further, {never seen a vet quit in VI yet}). i dislike even more spending up to an hour to get a 4v4 game hosted, everyone finally sees it, people join, wait for all the drops from screen, ppl quitting e.t.c only to start the game and drop.. or worse start playing and someone quits ands ruins the game totally http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif
i have also moved to another game as the basis of my gaming lifestyle (has been totalwar since i first found MI about a year and a half ago) because, although i love the game in itself the satisfaction from those few games finished in a night of playing isnt proportional to the time spent wading thru the endless flow of bugs, crashes, and quits. not especially relevant is the game i play now, Wolfenstein enemy territory (4th most played online game at the moment) was FREE to download lol, yes totally FREE patches are free, the whole experience is free, and more importantly well designed, well supported, and so bug-less it is a sheer joy to waste nights away on. The team who developed it is small, but they made it because they wanted to make a truely kick ass game not for money (obviously), not for Activison, or any other companies pockets.. they made their game for the RIGHT reason, in my opinion anyway.
I may be over-whining here, and i still love the "Concept" of totalwar but i am plain sick of seeing this truely amazing game destroyed with nothing but a clear lack of support. It is all to obvious CA simply doesnt care about the multiplayer community here. From where i see it i am almost starting to think they are trying to kill it, we are such a small percentage of players doing 95% of the whining, it is probably beneficial that this community slowly fades away.. something CA's "business attitude" will benefit greatly from.
i still love totalwar to death and, like paul come on to meet the great friends over the last 18 months.. it truely saddens me to see my best game ever destroyed over such a cold, yet sadly common motivation as money http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

Hail Mith,
Lamorak said it all pretty well. Its not gameplay its the apparent neglect given to mp. As you know Mith we use to see each other everyday online for atleast a couple of hours. Now I am so inactive I think I havent seen you since VI came out. The straw that broke my back was the community split showed no consideration for us mp's in that they didnt even test it enough to see how it would affect us. Truly gentlemen I am not upset with CA it is a buisness, but I am dissappointed and saddened with them. We all pay good money and I even bought VI twice because my house was burglarized. I also bought MTW twice, one copy for my cousin. However us as consumers have done our part by purchasing there product at there suggested retail prices making CA a succesfull game. You think they would just give us mp's some basic consideration without having to dip into there profits.
TW is the only real computer game I have ever really played. I am now playing my old playstation games online.
The game I am mostly playing now is Socom Navy Seals. Socom Navy Seals part II is coming out in november and I think its mp aspect has enough replay value to last me a long time and possibly will allow me to overlook RTW. I will still buy RTW if no other game has my attention, however I am looking at alot of other games and I will most likely stay with socom and socom II and/or the new madden football which is also playable online.

I saw the above thread on the .com forums where activision support said that various problems with VI would be fixed in a future patch.
Has anyone actually sent a list of the issues to the support e-mail address ? Just wondering if we'd get the same response.

Swoosh,
while MTW had real flaws in the balance of the game, its incorrect to say that VI is far off the mark - yes playing people who esc before the end of the game is extremely annoying and should be fixed (i'm a lot more choosy who i play these days), and yes the split foyer between mtw and VI is bad too (not seeing people in the gamespy arcade is not such a great problem - who uses it anyway?). As for winning 13 times in a row, of course your 2years + of STW is gonna count against people with so much less experience.
Yes it could be better, but it plays nicely now - but then ive thought every game ive played and bought could be better ever since i first got a spectrum +2 for christmas so long ago........
I'd be happy if they could just fix the technical bugs at least.

Cadet most of players have played for some time (but i was just having a wee boast i think) arrogance = wolf http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif , but my opinion on the game hasent changed it may not be way off the mark for u but sadly for me it is. I was hooked on shogun but find mtw and vi dull dull dull terrain to me doesent seem to matter anymore, no epic battles like nagashima and dry riverbed could provide, and the combat system seems clumsy and unpredictable. Maybe thats more down to upgrades but shogun was the beautiful game because the maps mattered and you could win with most armies if you outplayed some peeps. im sorry but imo mtw is a step back in balancing and gameplay (NOT KIDDING) it would take something special for me to get hooked on a game or even play it for that matter and mtw just doesent do it.

Swoosh,
Fair points well made, but perhaps its the game style/type that you've grown bored of? I mean 2years + is a helluva long time to still be addicted to a game....i dont really understand why im still hooked either. I agree about the maps.....they are really dull now, but this mp "community" seems to have grown totally indifferent to downloading maps and mappacks and so it seems no one out there is really bothered about making them - all those lovely huge maps peeps used to make on stw, and actually get downloaded...... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif
For me epic battles are about playing in games with and against really good players (just the same in STW) - just trying to get a big game with just good players is probably my personnel irritant these days, but might just mean i need to join a clan again http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Yes Lahll, it seems that we feel similar. Balancing seems ok to me but then again I really havent played VI era that much or v2.0 that much either to find the detailed balancing. I use to think that Magyar and Kocmoc were pesimistic when speaking about CA. I always saw myself as an optimist and gave CA benefit of the doubt but now my out view is different
As someone once said "A pesimist is an optimist with experience." It seems CA has proven them right.
P.S. shame to see Cranda not have his copy of VI after roughly 2 months after the games release.

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif glad ya got it working
also download pathfinder:
http://home.t-online.de/home/christian.rodemeyer/pathfinder.htm
it allows you to search the master server for any player who is currently on:
its the 2nd one down i think.. the one called "Enemy Territory" suprisingly enough hehe
open it.. enter your connection speed.. your version as "final" ... and click Query master. once it has queried all the servers you can then type a playername in the search box and find them anywhere on the Master server http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
once you select the game, and click join you must navigate to your Wolfenstein .exe file (in "C:/program files/WolfensteinET" by default and double click.. from then on it will do it automatically when you join each game. nice and easy http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif il try to look you up beforehand whenever i play...
for colours u have to add a ^ and a number after it, which is different for each colour...
so for a blue name "pete" its simply "^4pete"
for 2 letters blue, 2 white its ^4pe^7te and so on.. just trial and error for which colours which http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
just come back from major "owning" session lol.... on the beach map was 70 kills to just 7 losses ... maaaaaaaan field ops can seriously own that map
Hopefully see ya on there soon
