Cool graphics ;-)

BTW, anyone here ever play Centurion, Defender of Rome? The last time I played it was about 10 years ago and I recently dl'd it and played it again. It's a nice little game even now... except the WOW factor is no longer there :-)

Sorry for the attempted hijack.... well, not too sorry ;-)

The first one is one of the Bard games I think.

The second I have no idea.

The third, what was it called, Pitfall?

Remember we are gamers. We have short memories and even shorter attention spans.

I'm pretty sure that the first one is, in fact, the top secret beta for (drumroll please)

THE SIMS: DUNGEON

Yes Now all of your Sims dreams will come true Not only can you control a computer man's life while losing your own, you can do so IN A DUNGEON WOW Of course, as you can see, the graphics aren't quite up to spec yet, as it is a working model. However, my discerning eye can see a real classic in that gem of a screenshot Buying foodpackets and torches, hey, it doesn't get any better than this In fact, with a revolutionary twist in engine designing, this new sims game combines great Sims action melded with WARCRAFT This new game is called:

simulationstrategyrpg.

Incorporating all of the flaws and none of the virtues of each and every one of the above three.

My sarcasm generator needs recharging. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

I think that the first one is The Bard's Tale, the second is Montezuma's Revenge, and the third is Pitfall. Ah, many are the hours of my youth I burned away with these games.

The first one could be one of the early Might&Magic games

And I thought I'd start of easy... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif Only Classic number 2 is right uptil now; Named by contestant Ddogwood: Montezuma's Revenge.

Nr.1 is not a part of The Bard's Tale, it is part of a series though and this is number two.

NAME THAT CLASSIC

Nr.3 is not Pitfall as many of you seem to think, this game is about a dude with a Rotor attached to his back;

Maybe there are just a lot of young players here in the EH?

What Platform were the games on?
I was only an Atari consol or Spectrum 48k user in my youth oh ok i admit i dabbled with a bit of BBC B programming at secondary school but that was just too long ago and is lost in the mists of time.

I have played Centurion and still have it on my harddrive.

None of those shots are from The Bards Tale for C-64. I would know that if I saw it I was totally addicted to that game when it first came out, wow that brings back some memories. I wonder if you can get Bards Tale for the PC?

Hehehe, I'll help you guys out of your misery:

Classic 1: Alternate Reality: The Dungeon

Classic 2: Montezuma's Revenge

Classic 3: H.E.R.O.

So I guess that makes Ddogwood the winner of round one, he is allowed to print out the screenshot of Montezuma's Revenge and hang it on a wall of his own choice

Everybody stay tuned for round TWO of

Ok what game am I playing if Im looking through the eyes of Luxor the Moon Prince?

Sounds like the game in which you could wake up feeling Utterly Invigorated... Lords of Midnight.

What arcade game said Some space Captain you are when you died in a very electronic way?

Sounds suspiciously like Gorf. Bad move, Space Cadet

In what game did you have to clear up after a huge party before your house keeper would let you go to bed?

Jet Set Willy.

So, you want a hardcore Spectrum quiz? (I'm setting this from memory, which is mildly sad...)

- what was Ocean Software called before it was called Ocean Software?
- how many screens did Underwurlde have?
- what was Alkatraz and what was the first game to use it?
- where did Cuchulainn go after Tir Na Nog?
- what was Imagine working on when it went bust?

And for historical amusement value:
- who wrote Spy vs Spy?
- who wrote Swords & Sorcery for PSS?
- who wrote ReptonMania?

Correct on all three GilJaysmith. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

- what was Ocean Software called before it was called Ocean Software?
Hummmmmm for some reason Imagine rings a bell for this.

- how many screens did Underwurlde have?
Oh ill go count the CRASH map i still have of it but at a rough guess it was about 297

- what was Alkatraz and what was the first game to use it?
got me here.

- where did Cuchulainn go after Tir Na Nog?
Dun Durc? (Spelling wrong)

- what was Imagine working on when it went bust?
Imagine The name of the game was it Travel with Trashman II?

Sad I know but i still have my original 128k boxed with manuals and over 200 original games in a huge box along with 2 half dead Quickshot 2 joysticks from daily thompsons decalathlon.

Oh the glory days of youth.

Oh Times, Oh Daily Mirror. Is the telly the only source of knowledge these days?

Tir na nOg is the land of youth in Irish mythology - where the fairies live. Sorry, Tuatha de Danaan (sp? It's Irish, it should have some silent m's and b's in it, shurely) not fairies. Same thing, though :-)

It's from the Infocom website so it's totally legal, and it's a very small download as well http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif so also interesting for modem people.

Love the opening title of the website by the way, clicking the Infocom logo gives you a score of 5 out of 100 http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
