Flip, this is fantastic A great Mycenean warrior, I must say Mycenean chariots on the loose http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif

Say, has anyone suggested the Skythed chariots? Would be a great addition for the eastern civs who used those buggers and would add some immense playing value to those nations who posses those.

Komninos

Where are those descriptions, mon amis? I have finished (written the one for Persia and updated-polished the others) with the faction descriptions, but I am still waiting for
- specific eras (with the factions playable in each)
- unit descriptions

@Antalis
Thank you very much, I uninstalled everything and reinstalled it again following your instructions, the error messages about damaged headers continued but the game works very well.
I is really good Thank you I have been looking during years for a game based in classical Greece, I had Enclopaedia of Ancient Battles ( dating 1990 ) and Great Battles of Alexander. But this is the best and far more exiting that MTW, in my opinion.:2thumbs:
One question how is the time measured, I mean I have started a campaing in Geometrical Age, and it starts in the 190 AD ( more or less ) and continues onwards... I do not understand it very well. When does the campaing starts and when does it finishes ?
Thank you.

Well for the new campaigns komninos knows more: But in general: MTW doesn´t support B.C. years, thats the reason why there are only A.D. years in HTW.

So its a compromise with our year settings.

But if someone doesn´t like the year settings of it, he can easily change it in the campaignmap txts (campmap/startpos).

It is hardcoded within the MTW game-engine we cannot start BC,so now it is:
Geometrical:150-250
Pro-Claasical:250-400
Classical:400-500 Games-end

Hi all,

I have been away for 2 dais ... did 658.5Km and passed some amazing palces one of which was Delphi and the Oracle. ... I must be hooked in HTW cause when I sow the view from Delphi and towards the seaside town of Itea all I though is "Antalis I have at least 3 excellent maps for you". Two will fall in the mountain or better mountain river type ... They come from the area below Delphi. The other one as a flat2mountain and flatcostal from the valley of Itea I will try to make a sketch of them till I have the photos developed. Most probably this is the place where the Gallatan visitors last sow the Greeks pissed-off. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Flip ... this is one on its way to greater heights ... I will move the first Greek chariot to the present HTW for Dark Age Greeks also.

To all HTW enthusiasts - I have started to develop some
Historical Battles for the HTW MOD. They will be posted at

wargamer.com - in the scenarios section for MTW.

Leuctra 371 BC has already been submitted and will be posted within the next few days. I have some exciting saved battle screens (TGA) of the Leuctra battle including the Sacred Theban Band squaring off against the Spartan Mora - I will send to anyone who wishes via Email just send request to isdinco@hotmail.com. Other battles will
follow such as: Marathon, Plataea, Chaeronea and others.
With the new enhancements to the next version of HTW - chariots etc. - even more is possible (thanks to the HTW
development team).

I have also posted some historical battles for King David's Patrician MOD also at wargamer.com. These include
Bibracte 58 BC, Rhine 58 BC, Belgae 57 BC and soon Pharsalus.

THANKS HTW DEVELOPMENT TEAM FOR SUCH AN OUTSTANDING MOD.

Enjoy - Feedback on the battles would be appreciated.

You´re a lucky man komninos http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif : You´re living in Greece with all that great history surrounding you.
Every place there is full of history.
You can hear the words of Homer, Hesiodos, Platon, Aristotle, Sokrates, Herodot, Thukydides, Aischylos, Euripides, Sophokles, Aristophanes through the wispering of the wind, thinking of HTW, while you´re traveling to all those places: Athen, Thebai, Sparta, Salamis, Delphi, Dodona in the north, Naxos, Lesbos, Knossos........ .

Austria is also full of history, but the celts of Hallstadt didn´t wrote a thing.
We had romans here too, but who not in Europe.

Our history was very connected to Habsburg in the last hundrets of years.

I read also a lot of greek ancient literature, but only a translation, but they are very good.
Maybe I´ll try to learn ancient greek next year.

@Tommy1950:

Well, I´ve also made some of those historical battles, on which you´re working, but no problem:

Please don´t use my old landscapes (if you want to do) of the battlefields for them, some of them are not uptodate.
You know I´ve made a landscape for each of the 7 historical battlefields in my map-pack.

And please don´t name them with the same name as I do: I´ve named them simply like the battle: Marathon, Plataeae, Thermopylae, Chaironaia, Granikos, Gaugamela, Issos: Use a "Tag" in front or behind of your battle-names please.

Hello guys,
i was testing HTW r.2.0 and I should notice you some problems :

-customized battles :
It persists the problem of the money, that it increases although we buy more weapons, shields and honor ;

-campaign :
I was playing with “the Phrygians” and I got these problems :

1) I couldn’t leave the region “NICOMEDIA” in order to invade the region “BYZANTION” although they are linked ;
I thought that it depends on the straits but there were not a naval block, because I wasn’t in war with anyone, and besides, I had ships all around the seas of “NICOMEDIA”.
Why couldn’t I invade “BYZANTION” ?
2) then, the only way to land in Europe for me, was to land in “MOESIA”….strangely I could recruit mercenaries even if I had not the “Inn”, why ?
3) then, I built the spear maker, the blacksmith and other similar buildings, and although this, I couldn’t recruit spearmen or war tribes men, why ?
4) observing the buildings available in other regions, I had noticed a connection between the taverns and the brothels and the availability of new troops or buildings….Is it true ? (in “CYZICUS” for example, I couldn’t go on with the “keep” until I had built the tavern and the brothel )
5) regarding the ships :
5a) the time on stocks of the ships are actually too short : enemies can easily block the sea with many ships, preventing you any other landings for a new invasion, besides, the enemies don’t join the ships, so you have to sink the enemies ships one by one, spending many years, hoping, in the while, that a new enemy doesn’t advance
5b) the “Phoenician Triremes” have more offensive, defense and speed than the “Large Egyptian warships” (only the power is a little lesser than the “Large Egyptian warships”)… why ?
Because there’s a huge difference for cost and time on stocks (850 florins/ 2 years against 1400 florins/ 4 years
6) the siege machines still miss in the game even if in the Great Alexander period they just existes, why ?
Consider that many castels are impossibile to win with a minium of war machines
7) there’s a little problem in the software when you create the “temple” (church) that I solved typing “escape” on the keyboard…
even if I don’t understand why with my Muslim faction (“The Phrygians”) I managed to build the church…could you tell me more about it ?

For the rest I’m glad for the excellent work, http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif and, thanking you for all I greet you.
Thank you again….bye bye

The battle of Leuctra won't be easy to do. How are you going to make the allies stand there until it's starting to look like the Spartans will win?

You can download the Time Commanders battle from here:

Hi CID007,

OK I know the money problem ... it is being addressed but I can’t understand why it is happening.

Now with the rest.

1) I couldn’t leave the region “NICOMEDIA” in order to invade the region “BYZANTION” although they are linked ;

- NO they are not linked they seem to be connected but they are not.

I thought that it depends on the straits but there were not a naval block, because I wasn’t in war with anyone, and besides, I had ships all around the seas of “NICOMEDIA”.

If you had a naval force there should not be a problem there but if the one that had the province had a naval force there you should eliminate his naval force first

2) then, the only way to land in Europe for me, was to land in “MOESIA”….strangely I could recruit mercenaries even if I had not the “Inn”, why ?

The building file has been remade so the rules of MTW are not 100% correct here. Having a big castle is good the get mercenaries having an inn is even better.

3) then, I built the spear maker, the blacksmith and other similar buildings, and although this, I couldn’t recruit spearmen or war tribes men, why ?

hmmm ... here it is my fault I have to make a list with what buildings you get to build the units you need. ... it is a bit complicated depending on the units.

4) observing the buildings available in other regions, I had noticed a connection between the taverns and the brothels and the availability of new troops or buildings….Is it true ? (in “CYZICUS” for example, I couldn’t go on with the “keep” until I had built the tavern and the brothel )

Not a brothel ... but a Stoa or a Provinsial Govenors Estate first this s why the northern tribs can’t build more that that.

Yes there is a problem with the ships ... I think it is fixed now ...

Well there is a big difference with the ships in MTW and in HTW. I have made a huge effort to put the ships in order. There is a multitude of factors that determine the ship factors, time-to-built, cost and support (this is ~20% of cost but goes per year)

6) the siege machines still miss in the game even if in the Great Alexander period they just existes, why ?

Well the first siege weapons were invented much later and you will see them in the second triplet with the rise of Macedon ... well when flip does all the chariots ... I can ask him for a battering rum unit ... but it will be a really worthless unit.

7) there’s a little problem in the software when you create the “temple” (church) that I solved typing “escape” on the keyboard…
even if I don’t understand why with my Muslim faction (“The Phrygians”) I managed to build the church…could you tell me more about it ?

Don’t take religion literally ... this will change they go some thing like this
Orthodox – Oligarhic / Monarhic – Dorian
Catholics – Democratic – Ioneans / Achaeans
Muslim – Eastern Empires – Eastern people
Pagan – Barbarian tribes – Northern tribes

Not to worry - when the folders are extracted into the Batinit/battle/historical battles folder, they will have a year suffix such as : Leuctra 371 BC. Also, I created original maps based upon available resources. The MAPS will be suffixed with a year notation such as: Leuctra 371 BC. I believe this should suffice as a qualifying tag - but
I will change if you are not satisfied.

Hello Komninos and you all,
thanks for the answer, and I’m here to sum up the situation :

-customized battles problems :
the problem of the money is on development stage ;

-campaign problems :

1)I finally reach the real reason of the problem that doesn’t allow me to invade “BYZANTION” and I understood the reason starting a new campaign with “The Lakedomoni” : the program was been altereted preventing me to invade a region by sea, if I am allied with the faction which own that region
In other words : contrary to the original game, you can’t make an amphibious landing if you are allied to the faction you want to invade.
This is wrong and must be correct according to the original game.
2)The problem of the recruiting mercenaries without the “Inn” seems not to have a solution (if I have understood well of course)
3)and 4) The problem of the link between buildings and new units can be solving with a technological tree, but the development of it, is quite laborious.
5a) Time on stocks of the ship is on development stage.
5b) I don’t understand the connection between costs/times on stocks and the probability to win a naval battle, because costs and times on stocks more higher should correspond to an higher skill to win a naval battle, but it can’t be possible with the actual situation, because no one would build a ship that costs more money and has a power of fire lesser than another that costs less and has half times on stocks Do you agree with me ?
6)For the siege machines I agree with you, but at least you have to decrease the strength of the fortresses and castles, because they are very spectacular in the game but really impossible to win with only the troops.
7)Religious buildings : all the situation regarding the religions is being to be changing.

I think it would be all….if there’s something wrong or something to add, please replay me.
Excuse me for my notes, but I’m trying to give you a little help.
Well, congratulating with you for the great work, I greet you.
Thank you again….bye bye

the modification that has been made is graphical and scripting no changes have been made to the code so the rules that apply to MTW apply to this again ill look into this but i can say with complete assurance no changes have been made to the MTW code

ok heres how it works - the Port acts as the recruiter if you have a port you can recruit mercs - the Inn makes mercs more likly

Hi Sir Moody, http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

regarding my point 1) :

1)I finally reach the real reason of the problem that doesn’t allow me to invade “BYZANTION” and I understood the reason starting a new campaign with “The Lakedomoni” : the program was been altereted preventing me to invade a region by sea, if I am allied with the faction which own that region
In other words : contrary to the original game, you can’t make an amphibious landing if you are allied to the faction you want to invade.
This is wrong and must be correct according to the original game

I'm sure that the things stay in this way
Likely there would be another reason for the bug that we are talking about, but in the original game i can invade any regions in which the seas are not blocked.
so, if i haven't broken any alliances, I'm able to go wherever i want, also invade a friend region
Of course, as soon as i have invaded a friend region i can't move another army in that region, until i have sinked all the enemy ships staying in the sea near that region, but until i haven't broken the alliance with the faction i want to invade, i'm able to go wherever i want.

Yesterday, for example i'm playing with Lakedemonis, and i had ships in all the seas, and i'm not in war with anyone : only in the regions of the neutral factions the program allows me to make an amphibious landing; in the region owned by my allies i couldn't move my troops, that is, i couldn't invade my allies

Anyway, i will make more checks about this problem and i will verify the mod with other factions, in order to understand if this problem may depends on other factors.

Hi to all, see you soon.

the amount of information i found about the bronze age in greece and asia minor (up until 800b.c.)with a first look at aristotelio library is quite terrifying ... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-lost.gif It will take me a couple of days just to sorten out what is needed and what is not. Also, i found some very very interesting documents about the celtic presence in the northern balkans, and the contact they had with the kingdom of makedonia from 1200b.c. until the roman occupation of Greece. Are you people interested in that? I mean theres enough information in there for a hole new faction... Anyway,i ll keep in touch...Why can i not send a PM?

Hi Sir Moody,
I appreciated your interesting for the problem, and I'm very frightfully for listening that there's nothing that we can do to solve this huge problem.
The only way in order to play in affable way is to make the production of the ships more hard, in order to reduce the number of the ship to sink before an invasion, and reduce the movements throught the seas, in order to limit the possibility to block the seas.
Unfortunately, i don't see other solutions, otherwise we can surely say that the goal of the mod it's not reached http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif
Anyway, you all did your best, and we can however appreciate the good design of the units and good work to recreate the ancient atmosphere http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-blush.gif

Dimitri there is something wrong with your PM folder ... is it full?

So here I go ...

Don't get creasy with the info you will find a huge amount of info on culture, history of arts, architecture, ... etc we actually don't need that ...

What is at the moment interesting for us is the larger factions of the era in the area covered be the map but not the ones that were too close (i.e. Mikines and Argos).
The second thing at the moment is what you can find in weapons used, weapon technology, battle tactics, army units and there equipment, nobility titles and stuff we can incorporate in MTW so we can build Bronze Age HTW.

The era we are looking is the 2000 - 1200BC in the area of the HTW MAP.
Make also a more extended search for the grater East Mediterranean basin and the Middle East. Bronze Age HTW is just the Prelude of a greater mod in a map that has been built and sits in my disk till its time has come http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

how big is the final map going to be?

USMCNJ
02-26-2004, 05:52
what i've modded in my games is :

making the Shipyard a uniqe building.
This way a nation will not be able to have 5 provinces creating ships.

Also i've thripled the amount of time it takes to create a ship.

in the same area, i found that it is hard resist making money on trade (which i feel is almost like cheating)
so i'be made the trading resources less profitable

The result is few ships in the ocean. Nations are not going to war that often. (i can't explain this one)
However, i did find that most nations are refusing to make good ships.

komninos
02-26-2004, 07:41
Hi Julius Caesar,

I think you can find an image of it in the mapping library project thread ... or at least a description of it.

USMCNJ,
All these come from the behavioural patterns in the file. The ship patterns were not moded and were very high that is why every body was producing ships all the time.

It is hard to mod the behavioural pattern but you can copy paste the behavioural pattern of a not top priority unit like Peltast over the ship ones. Be very careful. You can also reduce from the percentage of the trade income to 20% but also increase the farm income by 2 (at least) in the regions.

When i run the game the main menu screen is from HTW mod but all the other game features are the old ones from Medieval. I have all the files needed or missing something to run properly?

Hi blackjack,

Go a few pages back to the topic you will find all the answers you need. You have to convert the Map Images to TGA and there are a couple of patches out also ... hopefully I will incorporate them all in the next release ... when it will be ready http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-embarassed.gif

People:

Ive been checking the forums for a very long time in order to understand how far did you get. And the answer is farther as I ever imagined.

Well I am an economist from Mendoza-Argentina, and I would like to help with this MOD in the way you consider adequate. I think the financial and trade options could be the best option.

@Rosacrux:

It would be great if you could also write some descriptions for historical battles and campaigns?

I would need descriptions for the battles of the: "The Persian wars Historical campaign": Marathon, Plataeae, Thermopylae.

For the "Macedonian campaign": Chaironeia, Granikos, Gaugamela, Issos.

Also a preloud for both campaigns.

You would not need to sum the units and theire strenght, only a short overview of the historical battles and campaigns.

At the moment I have descriptitions from the net.

What do you think?

Rosacrux
02-27-2004, 08:08
Sicher mein freund I might even do them today, as I've almost finished the unit descriptions Komninos sent me.

Whatever you'll hear from me, you'll hear until Sunday. For a week after that my net access from work will be scarce (temp. relocation and heavy workload) and my free time nil.

But probably before Sunday you, Kom and Zamoa shall receive a nice little package with the unit descriptions, faction descriptions and the HC descriptions you require.

Marcelo, Good luck Unfortunately TW is not a Civ like game with a lot of trade ... it is more of a "Die in a blaze of glory" thing so trade and other aspect of empire building are a bit neglected and fazed out.

Hi Sir Moody and Komninos, and you all guys, of course....

regarding my point 1) :

1)I finally reach the real reason of the problem that doesn’t allow me to invade “BYZANTION” and I understood the reason starting a new campaign with “The Lakedomoni” : the program was been altereted preventing me to invade a region by sea, if I am allied with the faction which own that region
In other words : contrary to the original game, you can’t make an amphibious landing if you are allied to the faction you want to invade.
This is wrong and must be correct according to the original game

I have to execuse me with you...
I have tested better the mod and take a look better in the original MTW : i made a little mistake of observing http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-oops.gif
Yes, because the issue i put in the forum doesn't exist : the game play exactly in this way : if i don't sink all the ships of a faction i can't invade a region of that region by sea.
Therefore, from this point of view the mod it's ok (fortunately) http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
The thing that made me mistake is the huge production of ships : in the original game the time on stocks and the movements of the ship are more restricted and for this it's more easy to make an amphibious landing
So, it need to work about the ships production, but to this, we have just talked about, and i don't want to bore you http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-smile.gif

ok, guys, i will go on with the check, in order to make you know eventual other problems http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-toff.gif

Well, excusing me for the false problem, i hope you would forgive me for my mistake and wishing you a good work (as you just doing) i greet you with a friendly "CIAO". http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

Hi all I hope I give a small answer to all your questions in this little post of mine http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Angelnessuno, well these are the pre-Marian units and the formed in the well known three line system. So Hastati are the first line; these are "light", as opoesed to the Triarii, troops. Both Hastati and Primati used the Pilum ... But I made an earlier version not the well known one. This helps me use the Bif for the Thorakites and Thureofori units that were an equivalent to the Primati and Hastati.

maximus decimus meridius, I am not very confident with the Latin name I use the Primati if I am wrong please correct me

-- I have crosschecked other sites also refere to them as "Principes" can you also check this ... is that the Latin term?

Scipio, though they are ready the late Hellenistic period is a pain in the b... causing several problems so you will not see them soon.

For the mod the map is ready yes but not in a form that can be installed in MTW v.2.1 (VI). Nothing else has been done. I am HTW up to my neck and I don't know if I will start it. If there is someone that can tack it from me till its completion I will be glad to give it a try (forming a first unit set, introduce the map in VI, include some parts of HTW that will complement it). The map it self has the Italian peninsula a small part from Libya and a good part of the west Balkans.

Suraknar, In that age ~2000BC these guys were what knights were in the middle ages. That bronze armour is about 10mm think and unlike other charioteers they used a really long pike to strike there enemies. Practically a charge from the Epetes (plural) was more than enough to end the battle. If you consider that at those ages the most the foot troops had was a light wooden or a composite (light wood and leather) shield. The only one that can stand against the charge of the Epetes were the Greek troops armed with a ~4-4.5m pike adopted from there naval experience. Practically these are Panzers charging down light troops

Hi Komninos,
this type of castles (shown by Antalis) are the castels that i had been talking about few time ago : they are impossible to win
This is the reason for which I asked to put in the game the siege machines.
Actually, they would be been anachronistic in the game, so, I think, in order to balance the game, it's better to reduce the strenght of the game.

Hi, see you soon

El Cid http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

Antalis::
03-02-2004, 08:30
They are to win, believe me, but we have discussed siege machines: Maybe, lets see.

If we would make the arrow towers less effective, then none (or very very less) of the very good armored Hoplite would die.
So no way.

But use another strategy for attacking a castle:
Send a very good armored unit to the gate (and hide the other units, if possible outside of the arrows range) and open the gate with it.
Then send the other troops to the castle.

Ideal would be siege ladders, but the MTW engine doesn´t allow this.

Hi all,

Flip, I love them ... when you are OK with them send them over I have reserved them a space from the old Eastern Cart http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Dirk, well come,
There is not going to be an installer. A Good reason are the TGAs ... what we are going to have is a self-extracting file that will put all the stuff in the correct place. But the transformation will have to be done by hand.
As far as the music goes I think it is the Muslim faction music ... Zimoa?

BattleKnight, well true, ... we should ... you actually posted this in the 54th page ...

Any way some news,
I decided that for its biggest part the original HTW is OK and with bran new units of flips amazing quality. There are a couple of units more namely some chariot units for you to play with and a lot of the stuff that you spotted as problems fixed. So we are going to release not a new beta but a big patch that will bring as all to the same level and reduce the number of files you need to download. Though depending on the size it might just be a new beta ...
It will contain
All the patches and the CTD fix for the end of year bug in a zip.
All the new units developed by flip including 3 chariot BIFs and a total of 4 Chariot types.
New economics ... yes I know you needed this ...
A new set of maps from Antalis
And reworked slinger units. The heavy slingers will be able to attack wooden walls with pots of burning oil (OK you will see the burning rocks of VI catapults but can’t do more than that OK)

Then I will do my best to get you the second triplet with all the nice new units (including the Roman ones)

But a huge work will be placed on the Bronze age HTW. If all goes well this will be escalated to a new map to cover the east Mediterranean basin and 99% of the Middle East.

Oh please do not take my comment as critisism here, :) I love the work you are all doing and the units just look awesome

And that Dendra armour sure bellongs to what you said Early 2000 - 1200 BC, side by side to Agamemnon, and Achilles, and Menelaos, to not forget Ullyssis (Odisseas).

I was not sure if this Add on was set in the Classical 800 - 300 BC period or more in the Early 2000 - 1200 BC period of Hellenic Civillisation.

But still, correct me if I am wrong please, it seems to me that this "Add On", covers from 2000BC onwards right? And it is not limited to one specific period Right?

I thought initially that this Add On was set on a specific period of Hellenic History, from looking at some units I see that is covers most of it, are you going to Include any Phalanx Units, as of Alexander The Great period, or is this going to stop at roughly The Pericles Period?

Just for clarity I guess, I really love it so far

komninos
03-07-2004, 00:03
Suraknar,
Ok ... lets clarify this ...
The era covered is from ~800BC till the end of the Persian wars
There are going to be two add-ons, the first will go forward and start at the end of the Persian wars till and end in the Hellenistic era with a final (most probably) self contained part with the Roman invasion.
The second will go back in the Mycenaean times till the Dorian descent in 1200BC.
This last one is a prelude for a planed mod for Bronze Age.

Zimoa,
We are still having problems with the server. When I will have positive news I will contact you. From what I have learned they are having still problems with the old ISP and there cooperation.

1. To solve the "Orthodox Palace" problem:

Install this patch:
startpos-fix (http://www.mizus.com/Files/k0rgs8gVt/MTW/Stats/startpos.zip)

Copy all three files of it (Hellenic_DA, Hellenic_PCL, Hellenic_CL) into your campmap/startpos-folder.

2. About the campaignmap:

You have to convert two jpg-images to tga-format:

Open your "Textures/campmap/Hellenic" folder and convert the "mapTex.jpg" and "mapTex2.jpg" to TGA format.
Use "IrfanView" for that and put the two tga´s into the same folder.

3. If you don´t have the English version of MTW: Open your "Loc" folder:
After you have installed all three files (Beta, Small patch and Startpos-fix) from above you get a "Eng"-folder in this Loc-folder.
Open it and copy all files from it to your language folder: As an example from the "Eng"-folder to the "German"-folder.

****Using default image****

There is no mouse pointer,so I press ENTER and the game goes on.Why is this happening and how am I going to fix it?

Thank you very much
Nikos

The "startpos fix" patch should solve this problem (look in my post with the 3 points (site 56)).

Hi

One last question from a newbie http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-embarassed.gif

My game starts at 150 AD. When the High and late period (I mean Pro-Classical and Classical) begin?

BTW,very nice screenshots those with the Persians.

Hello,

first I have to gratulate you all of the HTW team for making a exellent mod. Its a real expansion to MTW, and we are lucky not having to buy it from CA.

But second I have experienced, that if you build a palestra or a spearmakers workshop you didnt get the valour bonus for your hoplites.

Third I am asking for more region specific units and valour bonuses in the next version because in my opinion this is the real pepper in the Total War campaign games but your units are great flip and I am sure you are able to design some region specific units.

Welcome Hansi,

I'd loved also if MTW permit that feature. Units are limited to the slots available in the game. I think that with VI we had the possibility to add 10 more slots. So, a bif file can be used by several units, we can add different shields and weapons. Thats a compromise between playability and history.

Hi everyone. Is the first time i write in this forum and I must say that I´m very happy to see the developing of this great mod. I like a lot the Greek clasical era and the total war games. For this reason I think that you have chosen the best era for a total war mod. I give you congratulations and encorurage you to keep the good work. The screens are great I´ll wait to see the final version of the mod.

One question: Has Helenic totalwar siege weapons?. I ask this because I don´t like to play with them. Is too easy to defend a country when you have some catapults.

Sorry for my bad English. Bye. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

crackity jones,

First my condolences for what happened there ...

Now to something more pleasing ... In the era covered there are not siege weapons. But eventually you will get the original catapults (Kata-peltis), Gastrafetes and Lithovolos. The first is a bug crossbow the second like the MTW Ballistae only it is a stone tougher.

Please all, forget about 3D downloads(the horror of downloading),all the links on the site are working fine just checked them again so i don't understand why some people have problems. All files are posted on the second server on the Org(for which we still thank Tosa Inu) and all links on the HTW site use this server untill Komninos sorts out the possibility of using our previous server again.
So go here for all files or use the download section of the HTW site.

Moders, Thanks a lot again HTW is fantastic, I enjoy it very much.

I have a suggestion:

How can we ask the moderators of the totalwar.org forum to create a HTW folder or directory? HTW is grown and a folder or directory will enable us to have discussions on different HTW topics.

The Chariots are for the Bronce Age addition so they will be for sure in the next addition. The Roman units are of course for the Roman Invasion and there are some pics of them a couple of pages back,i think Komninos will put them in the next version already as mercenaries. The War Elephant, well Flip hinted that he is planning/working on it and if you have seen his chariots i 'me damn sure that he will do it

The final version will probably have a new Campaign map that covers from modern day Greece to Egypt to Iran(not for the next update yet). The additions planned contain more new units, historical campaigns/battles that cover the historic era's.
The additions will be:
1. Bronze (Dark) Age HTW
(Period of Troy)Chariots
2. Peloponnesian War
(Persian Invasion:Marathon,Thermophylaeae,Plataeae)
3. Rise of Macedon
(Alexander the Great:Granicus,Issus,Gaugamela)
4. Hellenistic age
(Succession Wars after Alexanders death)
5. Roman Invasion
(Invasion of Ancient Greece by the Romans)

These additions will come in fases, the next update will contain for sure 1 and 2 and of course all patches and updates.

I doubt that Elephants would be possible. Not the graphics or animations are the problem, but the size is: You can make elephants only up to horse size, or you reduce the size of all other units.

Hi thirchak18 http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif :

Look at the links at site 57: Download the "startpos fix" and put the three files of it into your "campmap/startpos"-folder.

Then it should work without this problem.
