View Full Version : Deadpage
I made some new units recentlly and included dead page coordinates but when the unit died there is nothiing left on the field, they simply disappear. I have also noted that some of the VI units in the original leave no corpse despite having deadpage coordinates. Does anyone know why this happenes and if there is a way to fix it? Depends on what values you've specified for the coordinates of the dead image. If the coordinates don't scale to an image within the "Dead256.lbm" it won't work.
Have a read of the stickied thread "MTW Animations ...", and look for "PART 12: The Deadpage"

I've also noticed that a lot of new units don't leave corpses in VI. For example, faris. I've read the Wellington's sticky and looked into the deadpage.txt, but e.g. faris have the same coordinates as alans, yet alans do leave the corpses while faris don't. Why is this the case, has anybody else noticed it, and mayhaps managed to fix it?
Sorry for the bump-up of this old thread.
But I was wondering if anyone fixed the deadpage coordinates of the new units of VI which didn't leave behind any corpses?
Looked at the downloads at The Org, but couldn't find anything that refers to fixing it.
And I read Welly's guide (the "Deadpage" section), but it seems rather time consuming and frustrating to change it to the right coordinates.
So I was hoping if someone else already fixed it? And maybe has the fixed 'DEADPAGE COORDS.txt' file for download?

Apparantly there is a limit on how many units there can be in the deadpage.txt file.
Deadpage.txt, How does it work? (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=5;t=10328)
So, it's probably nothing we can do about it.
Too bad, but thanks anyways http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Whenever I uninstall MM, it deletes my deadpage coords with it It's Wes, deterring us from uninstalling his mod http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif
Anyhoo, it means no real battles. >_
For anyone still interested in knowing.
I just fiddled around a bit with the "DEADPAGE COORDS.txt" and just copy pasted every unit that the original (meaning Early, High and Late era games) game doesn't use to the bottom of the page, e.g. Bonnachts, IrishDartmen, DarkAgeRoyalKnights etc. That seems to fix them all I think. But I'm not quite sure, haven't tested every unit yet.
Spanish Javelinmen, Jobbagy, Slav Javelinmen, Szekely work so far. If one doesn't work, then I'll post it here.
MAKE SURE TO BACKUP THE DEADPAGE COORDS.TXT FILE
The "DEADPAGE COORDS.txt" can be found at the following:
Medieval - Total War > Textures > Men.
In the "Men" directory just scroll down untill you see the file "DEADPAGE COORDS".
Open this file and scroll all the way down untill you have found the unit "ArabInfantry".
Then search for the units:
- Berserkers (*Can be used by rebellions)
- DarkAgeRoyalKnights
- DarkAgeKnights
- EarlyFootKnights
- EarlyRoyalFootKnights
- EarlyVarangianGuard
- SaxonHuscarles (*Can be used by rebellions)
- Bonnachts
- IrishDartmen
- PictishCavalry (*Can be used by rebellions)
- SherwoodForesters (*Can be used by rebellions)
- WelshBandits
- PictishMountedCrossbows
- PictishCrossBows
Note: Some are already at the bottom though.
*Can be used by rebellions: You can put them on top of the mentioned list that needs to be put at the bottom, thus maybe some or all will also have dead bodies. Haven't tested this and neither intent to.
I've used some units that the main campaign normally doesn't allow to be build, e.g. Berserkers, Saxon Huscarles, Sherwood Foresters (Changed the name to Welsh Longbowmen) etc. Thus it's a bit different with my DEADPAGE COORDS text file.
Actually installed MedMod 2.04 and just modified anything I wanted to my liking http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif With some incorperated ideas I've picked up on these boards.
Anyways I hope anyone understands this and found it useful, although many others may already know about it http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif
