Now im hooked on the total war games ( I only have vanillia STW at present) I was looking at getting STW ME, MTW and VI.

On looking at various places on line i looked at Amason .uk and .com but have a problem. The prices of STW ME is very different between the US and the UK
like UK = £27.99 US = $14.95
Anyone else see my problem?
Is there any difference between the US versions and Erops versions? as I have the ability to get either and want to get the cheapest one of course.
Anyone know of good prices for the games from elsewhere?

Go to www.play.com it's £16.99, ok that's not as cheap as $14.95 but it's a british company. (That price includes P+P as well).

How can you get the US game if you are in the UK? I thought Amazon.com does not ship games to Europe.

I used to buy games from the US on the internet, but you can get hit by high customs duties.

If you have another way - eg a friend in the US or a visit etc - that's another matter. UK versions are usually no different from US ones and the US market does seem so much more competitive in terms of pricing.

In this case, www.play.com sounds ok. I think I've used them before - such cheap retailers seem pretty reliable these days.

Thanks for that both of you.
Yes I have friends in the states that would buy things for me and send as gifts. If its not merchandise then its not taxed as far as i know.

Always wondered about if US versions of games were different to UK ones, thanks for answering that one Simon.

It does vary by company - one way to check is to see if there are different patches for the UK and the US. But typically the differences are purely formal and to do with marketing or some such - the gameplay etc is nearly always identical. The only exception I can think of is Fallout 2 where they took kids out of the UK version in reaction to the Dunblane shooting. Americans sometimes get nicer manuals and extras, as well. They often benefit from earlier release dates.

So to summarise, Americans usually get cheaper games, often earlier and sometimes with better stuff. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

I got STW WE at PC World for £9.99. Try there.
