I believe that generals have V&V's that you can't see. I think the original game made some mention of dropping spies on generals to show their secret V&V's. However, dropping a spy on a gen only attempts to frame him.

Are there secret V&V's?
If yes, how can they be discovered?

Thanks in advance if this gets cleared up

as far as i know if you right click on 'your' generals you can see all of their V&V's even the secret ones. often these become problem V&V's if they become known... like secret perversian is fine until its exposed and becomes just perversion and you lose piety (same for secret adultery or secret blackmailer etc)

you can only see secret V&V's of enemy generals if you drop a spy on them- and when you do this succesfully you expose the secret V&V

hope that helps

Your generals will continue to develop V&Vs some of which will be obvious and others of which will be secret. I believe that having a spy in the same province with a general who is a "Secret Blackmailer" will increase the likelyhood that he will be exposed. I would suggest removing spies from any provinces that have a general with a secret vice that you do not want discovered. The generals for other factions also have secret vices that you can discover by dropping a spy on them. This can lead to embarrassment and loss of loyalty or rebellion for the faction to which the general belongs. Dropping spies on your own generals only tries them for treason as you have already discovered. This can be very useful when you have a lame heir inherit the throne and loyalty is very low. Execute a few of the least loyal troops and you will begin to see an upsurge in loyalty. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

Dropping a spy on a general to reveal vices are for the enemy generals. You don't want to have the secret vices of your own generals exposed, as these could have bad consequences. To see your own generals secret vices, just scroll down the panel. The secret vices that that particular has are listed with secret infront of the vice name.

Thanks folks.

For some reason I had it in my head that you couldn't "see" the secret ones.

Now it makes sense except sometimes my attributes don't add up to what I thought they would.

I like how the battle preview screen shows everyone with the proper numbers. Like the bonus for Expert Attacker on an attack.

Anyway, thanks for the info

I think the incest vice gives -4 piety.

Only -4 piety? Than I have to use my princeses more ... I thought that my heir or king are going to be burned on the stake or something if the incest would have been discovered.
