View Full Version : Yet another VI Problem

Playing several campaigns of MTW as various factions I've noticed a couple of anomalies.
1. When an excommunicated King dies, I thought his Heir automatically got a fresh start? Sometimes it happens-- but sometimes the new King is STILL excommunicated. Or maybe it's supposed to be random?
2. About 20% of the time, reinforcements don't enter in the order I selected in the pre-battle screen. It's usually not a game-breaker , but sure is annoying.
Anyone else had these problems?

The reinforcement issue I haven't seen yet but I saw someone else with the same problem. I can vouch for the excommunication though. My King of Sicily clobbered a Papal army that had taken Naples. I thought nothing of committing my forces to battle bacause the king was 55. The bug that kills kings at 56 came into effect a couple of turns later and I saw that I was STILL excommunicated

I thought it was the Pope's death that cancels excommunication, not your faction leader's death.

Either death is supposed to clear the ex-communication.
The bug that kills the king at 56 might cause the program to miss the ex-communication status reset to no code. Does the ex-communication status get reset if the king dies before 56 years of age, i.e., a normal death?
I thought you'll be excommunicated as long as you're at war with the Pope? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif Recommunication works for regular cases, but if you're at war with him, you're out, IIRC.
And as for the reinforcements issue, I haven't noticed it yet either.

both are strange but like someone said above maybe the bug that kills the kind wont cancel you excum.

I think hrvojej is right on.

I stand corrected. I was just assaulting the castle. I had three stacks assaulting, one full of siege machinery, one full of infantry, and the third my standard army with the general. In my first lineup were the general and siege machines, and the first reinforcements should have been infantry. Yet, once I withdrew the crews, units from general's stack started to appear instead of the ones that were scheduled to do so. This is how it worked in the original MTW, the general's stack would be your first lineup, followed by other stacks. So, yes, it's bugged. And also, I noticed that some V&Vs do disappear again, and I'm just about to post it in my own thread in main hall..... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

Gregoshi,
Probably just freak luck, but I can't recall my King dying before age 56 in any of the games since VI. I'll keep my eyes open though in case it happens-- since I'm usually excommunicated anyway... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

post your bugs in this thread in the apothecary. if we keep them all in one place there's a better chance for CA to know where to look to find them all:
