Like say a man who is a 0 gen. and doesnt lead my men but has 5 loyalty is assisanted, what determines the next persons loyalty? I mean if it will be 5, then who really cares if he is assisanted? He will be replaced with the same status, just a different name and he doesnt even leade my men.
I think you have it about right, though the commander of the stack is always the one assassinated.
I think the stats will be random. The loyalty will depend on things like current influence, and maybe the base loyalty of the province that he's in, like it's the case with newly trained troops. If you assassinate him yourself, e.g. to prevent civil war, the loyalty of all generals should go up. Note that if you assassinate a leader, that unit will still be in charge of a stack even there are units with higher command in the stack, unless you take it out and put it back in, or do the same with higher command rating unit. This also happens when your general gets V&V that lower command, such as drinker. I've seen a previously great leaders still leading stacks after they have had their command diminished by V&Vs even though they are not the highest ranking unit any more. Note also that the pre-battle screen doesn't matter as far as to whom the credits for the battle goes. I've had a 4* and a 9* generals in a stack. I didn't want the 9* lead this time, since he had scant mercy, and I wanted to execute the prisoners. 4* led the battle, appeared as a general's unit, all units had only +2 valour, but the 9* general got the merciless vice for executing prisoners, although he never entered the field. I think this was not supposed to be this way, but it unfortunatelly is. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

How were you able to prevent the 9* general from being on the field? I thought it was not possible to cycle the generals unit out at the beginnig before the battle?

Sorry in reply to the original post - if all the genrals in a stack are 0*, the command seems to go to a general wh also happens to be a governor.
In VI, you can choose which units will be present in the first lineup. You simply take out 9* general and place it in teh reinforcements, and the unit with the highest command rating that is in the first 16 will effectively be general's unit, but will still not get the credit for the battle.
If all generals are 0*, the governor one will usually be the general. If there are no governors, usually the most "noble" unit will be the general, e.g. in a stack of 15 peasants and 1 feudal knights, the knights will be general's unit. If all units are equal, e.g. 16 peasants, the one you place in the stack last will command. There also might be something realted to V&Vs, in that the unit with V&Vs will be more likely to command than the unit without them, all else being equal, but I'm not too sure about that one.
