MiniKiller, it is reserved for Kurando because he ran the show here at the Org in the STW days, i.e., he had Tosa's position. Staff and certain individuals are allowed their unique avatars.

I remember my drive to 500; I really wanted the avatar Pagan Admiral 28, http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/avatars/PagAdmiral28.gif but it wasnt available, so I chose Pagan General 22 and have not changed since. Dont worry, you'll find an avatar you like sooner or later.

There was and is a lot of discussion about avatars. Wishes are: total freedom, ranks, uniformity, running a theme. It's hard to make compromises here. I can understand both the need to express yourself and the desire for having a theme/ranks. The good thing is, that this board supports skins, and that it may well be possible to satisfy both needs.

Code changes already uncoupled the rank/ free from pool problem. I guess it's possible to create a new skin and code that would allow own avatars, while the current skins display the theme ones. I don't know when there's time to update this nor if it can be 'easily' made.
