I have been working on a mod for MTW/VI and have been experiencing the same problems as those in some other threads (I obviously can't post in the Dungeon so this will have to do here).
Has anyone been able to find a solution to this? I have seen the post about removing unused factions in various eras but that shoudn't be necessary. I have taken the Early era and (like I'm sure others have) have added Scotland as a Major Faction without changing anything else. The campaign screen works beautifully but the battles crash. I have tried mixes of units as well as taking only one type in. These have included Archers, Highland clansmen and Urban Militia. Only Archers seem to work. The only thing I found different was that Archers had a differnt body type (PESTUNIC) while the other two had PEASANT. Changing this at first allowed me to use UM in a custom battle, but that crashed a campaign battle. Changing the HC to that body type crashed both Custom Battles and Campaign Battles.
Has anyone overcome this problem consistently and knows what they did (I.E. is was something they did explicitly to correct this)?
If not, if anyone wants to work on this together perhaps we can come up with and run some test cases together and at least figure out WHEN it crashes and when it doesn't with some consistency.
