I have been playing on line for a short while now and have noticed certain groupings eg SPQR. clans i presume.
Have had a peak at the clan discriptions but was curious wot the forum thought of the clans? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif

Clans, is it? I cant tell you if clans are good or bad mate, you have to decide about that. Mostly though clans are good for learning about the ins and outs, and having a friend online so you can play whenever you are on. I, myself have got in a fair number of clans, all which did not prevail. Thats when I understood that being on my own is better for me, because thats how I like it, no strings attached. I dont like people being judged by the tags in front of their name. To come up with this idea I entered KFW first, which was a success but soon there was nobody online from my clan so I resigned informally. I couldnt resign formally because the members were gone. The came WoWC, that only lasted a day because the members were also not active and I qquite didnt like the style of it. Then came FGOR, this was probably going to last, but I screwed up because I didnt resign formally from KFW when I joined this clan and a mate from KFW popped up if I was still İn KFW or not. If I lied, it would be ok, but I kinda liked the guy so I told the truth that I was still in KFW. And finally just before VI was out I joined SPQR, which is a formidable and probably the most active clan. That didnt work out either, actually it did but I didnt feel right about it. I dont know why, its just the way it happened. So I respectfully explained it to the members and resigned. During this process, I had to change my name a few times. So when you see me on RTW mp, do yourself a favour and dont ask me to join your clan http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif
Translation for those too lazy to read: If it shouldnt happen, then it wont happen no matter how hard you try. If it has to happen, take your time and dont worry, it will happen.
Clans have a lot of good points you just need to find ones that suit you and the time you have to spend with it.
Had one clan for Halflife TFC once only problem was it was run by a 14 year old with others about the same age. Felt like a baby sitter.
No offence to younger players I hope, it was just how they behaved in setting practice times, spamed games, did not listen, did not help each other, etc.
So IMOH a good clan is one that supports helps, and has a general allround fun time. If your talkingabout clans like that then they are great.

The key is to find a clan that fits in with your personality and style. This is not a quick process. If you run into a clan that feels like a good candidate, you should hang out in the clan forum for a few weeks. Play online with them as often as you can during that few weeks. That will give you a good idea of what they are like both on and off the battlefield and how often they play. If you think you want to try the clan route, don't rush it. Find the right clan and it is a great experience. Find the wrong one and it even ruin your desire to play online.
Swifticus:
Gregoshi (as always) is right on. I would only add that you should find a clan that is active at the time of day when you are most active.

IMHO is depends what you are looking for.
Myself and Panther are the only active members in the MTW community from Shades at the moment, but our clan is still alive and playing other games.
So what I am kind of saying is what are you looking for.....
I class Shades as a good group of friends, as a clan we have been together for about 3 years now, but yet again its an age thing for us, we are all quite old, so nobody else would prob take us....... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
To enjoy MTW you dont need to be in a clan, but it just depends on what you want ?
Clan can be fun, but they can be a pain also.......

Clans are good, well in certain ways.
(DISCLAIMER: this is my opinion and noone elses and as such does not reflect the thoughts of Shades clan http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/shock.gif )
It really depends on the clan. Some clans are very competitive whch is good in most ways as long as they have fun and so on. But i feel that if they get obcessed with winning and so on they dont really have as much fun and such. Then it becomes pointless being in the clan being driven only to win (especially if you cant win http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif )
Ive been in alot of clans and i find that i prefer to be in laid back clans which have fun. But that is only because of the way i play.
Well i hope all these people have answered your question. But really we cant tell you what to think of clans and it is mainly up to you.

Talking about talking.. I think I talk too much during the battle. Sorry if that annoys any of you but it makes me remember im just playing a computer game otherwise I end up looking at my mouse and saying isnt this meant to be a sword?? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif and I cant push myself anymore... I simply hate people who dont talk during the battle, it doesnt have to be while the hot fighting is involved, I dont talk at that time either except PROTECT MY FLANK PLEASE THAT IS WHY YOU ARE CALLED AN ALLY http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Its even worse if you ask them an important question and they dont answer. Such as How big is your 'sword'? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/flirt.gif
cheers
