I have been modding MTW and except for the battles crashing when playing a new faction (which no one seems to have been able to overcome, please post if I am wrong) everything went fine.

Now, I've reinstalled my computer and am starting to mod it again, this time however, when I make a copy of EARLY.TXT and edit that, the mod doesn't show up. When I reaname EARLY.TXT to Copy of EARLY.txt (so the original is now the 'copy&#39http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif only the mod shows up and not the original. This is exactly how I was doing it before I reinstalled and everything was fine.

So then I delete my mod from that folder and rename 'copy of' back to just EARLY.txt. This is rather annoying.

When I fist did this (following ECS's advice) everything was there in the campaign selection, the originals plus the mod. It must be something stupid I haven't thought about. Has anyone else seen this happen and said 'Doh'?

I know this sounds silly but did you scroll down the entire list Viking, Early, High,Late, I had the same problem when I first installed VI but now that theres a 4th choice the Mod is always at the bottom? it does not show without scrolling down. Just a thought.

Thanks, but no there is no scroll bar. It is an 'either or' thing apparently. The interesting thing is I installed Kekvik's mod at they appear fine. I tried again after installing the mod and now it shows up (I haven't editied it yet but it is there)... so we'll see how it goes.

I just hope one of us figured out what is going on with the battles crashing on load http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif

Or have CA release a patch http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

There is a scroll bar on the period select screen. To the left of the choices Viking,High etc. click on the what looks like a little metal cross and scroll down. Its there assuming we are talking about the period select screen.

Yes we are talking about the same screen but what I am saying is there is was no mod selection there anywhere, scroll or no scroll it just wasn't there. I have always seen the campaigns in order of period first, then alphabetical anyway and since I have only done Early period mods they have always been at the top.

Anyway, it appears to be working now anyway in my latest of fresh copy/pastes. My guess is that I was not putting in a Cr-Lf somewhere and it couldn't read the file right. It probably does some sort of compiling before it shows the campaign screen. I probably did this a couple of times.

If you've left both early.txt and copy of early.txt in the same folder, without changing the campaigns name (defined in cn_title::Early Period Title cn_short_title::Early Period Short Title), the game thinks you have two definitions files for one era and goes crazy. Either move one of the files to a different folder for safe keeping or change the era title. That shoud help.

Thank you, but both cn_Title and cn_Short title were changed. And cn_predefines was set to false on the mod.
