The following is a letter sent this evening to CA regarding a possible patch for MTW/VI. I have looked for information stating yes or no to a possible patch in the future but haven't found any. Maybe someone here knows and can post some info.

I fully expect no reply to my questions but if one doesn't ask one will never know. However, if each of you who has the same question also sends a well constructed e-mail to CA at info@creative-assembly.co.uk at some point some response will be given and I encourage you to do so. If you wish to refer to my letter (sort of like a vitual petition) feel free to append it intact to your e-mail.

I will follow up this thread with any information I recieve.

Hello,

First let me say ‘thank you’ for the TW series of games thus far. They have been generally well thought out and we all look forward to the new things planned for RTW. I myself have supported and played STW since its release and both it and MTW along with their expansion packs are among the few games I have purchased at full price without waiting for them to be sold at a discount a few months after release.

However no game is without flaws and MTW is not an exception to this. As you are aware there have been some ‘issues’ that have been raised with the latest expansion pack. Most notably the ‘King dies at 56’ and not being able to play new factions in custom or campaign battles. In the campaign it appears that battles must be auto-calculated to prevent a crash to desktop. There have of course been other complaints (i.e. Spies and Assassins) but these two seem the most prevalent.

Of course there will always be people who complain with a product no matter how good it is and also some point at which maintenance on any project must give way to new products. My question (and I believe I speak for many TW enthusiasts) is whether or not there is a patch planned for MTW/VI in the future? Many have also raised concerns that fixes will be bundled up with a forthcoming ‘Warlord edition’ which bundles MTW and VI and was released for STW forcing those who currently own both MTW and VI to purchase yet another edition. I am not asking for a date or specifics as to what may or may not be addressed in a possible future patch, but there are many of us who would like to know if this is it for MTW support in light of the development underway for RTW.

I eagerly await your response. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
(name withheld in this post)

The guys of CA have allready stated that a decision for making a patch is not in their hands (how weird it might sound) but it''s the decision of Activision. So you might want to send this to Activision instead.

Well why not send it to them and forward it on to Activision as well?

Or get CA to Forward it on.

It was sent to CA before I posted it here and I have since forwarded it to Activision. Again I don't expect a reply (especially from Activision) but one never knows.

Well, you probably get some standard or very general answer from them. But who knows http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif

Let us know if you get a reply out of them

I will. Someone from from CA replied at the totalwar.com forum but he misunderstood my post and before I read things and replied various other got things off track. I will cross post anything of interest that is said there.

Here is the response I got from someone at CA with my response following:

I am afraid that all information regarding patches and the game are posted on the Total War web site so I am unable to comment on our future plans. Keep your eyes on the Total War web site for the latest info www.totalwar.com

Many Thanks

My response:

Thank you for your response. Being a frequent visitor to the Total War web site, including contributing often to the forum there, I can say with some certainty that there is in fact no information with regards to a possible future patch at the site you mention. I believe everyone would be content if CA was to make SOME sort of announcement at totalwar.com regarding the issue of future patches. We do understand that there comes a point in time when a product is no longer developed. All we see there now is RTW and how great it is going to be. It most certainly will be great and we are looking forward to it, but that does not change the fact that there are some glaring issues with MTW/VI right now.

Quite simply Sir, we do not care if the information about a future patch is released in an announcement at the site, in the forum there or in a private e-mail. We would just like to know if CA has any plans to fix or modify the MTW/VI game via a patch that will not force us to purchase a ‘Warlord Edition’ to get these changes.

We look forward to an official response on the totalwar.com web site soon.

I had hoped for more than just a simple deflection but we will see what they say on their official site. I still encourage all of you to write to CA. If they get enough e-mails they WILL post something to their website.

Warlord edition my foot. I ain't going to buy the games again to get my patch...

If they were developing a patch they would say so. If they are not developing the patch they won't admit it in the hope there will be a few more peeps buying the game.

I agree with your logic and they are probably not developing a patch. Send them an e-mail and let them know what you think
