Hello folks

This is probably a yes/no but I don't seem to be able to find an answer anywhere else (i've tried the FAQs but I couldn't see it in there)

So here goes:

Is it possible to build crusader units (Templars/Santiago etc.) in SP?

I've held crusades and the knights have turned up all on their own before but I don't seem to be able to actually build 'em.

If I should be able to build them any thoughts on why I can't?

Cheers folks.

No you can't build crusader units. They appear in crusades and you get to keep them after the crusade is done (can't retrain them to replace losses though). They are always amoungst the units that magically appear when you select a target for your crusade. Some mods allow you to build them like normal units though.

Edit: Doh I forgot to say welcome to the org http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

Yes, normally you can't produce them. However you can mod some files to make them available to you, it's not that hard, but you better head over to the dungeon forum and read up on how to do it as well as downloading a nice editor for it.

Thanks Frogbeast I've been trying to figure that out for what seems like ages. I may have misread the manual but it really seemed like I ought to be able to build them.

Just wishful thinking I suppose. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

You can build them....only with a minor modification, If I remeber it's just changing one line in a text file...the dungeon people know all about it..easy as cake.

in a non modified game, you should raise the zeal in your provinces by Cardinals and the like to increase your chances of having some of those elite units.

Come to think of it the game pretty accurately represents the average Crusade army when you raise a crusade in SP.
