I Purchased VI expecting Hordes of Unwashed Barbarians to descend on the land of ALBION.
However this just has not happened http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif ok a few raids but nothing major...No DaneLaw just a minor irritant
How is everyone else finding this?? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif
Viking Invasion HMMM I think not http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif
Yeah, I was expecting a bit like MI when you have to form a boundary first before retailiating. But in VI you can just blockade the seas from the Norsemen and they're gone
Maybe if they had a fourth of Britain from the beginning or if some parts of the mainland were included or if they would appear like some returning faction with 6 or 7 armloads of troops or maybe I'll just wait for the new TotalWar...

The main problem is simply that the AI isn't up to the job of leading the Viking forces as it stands. However I've seen a few modifications either already around or pending that give the Vikings a bit of a boost so they're more challenging/active/interesting when AI controlled.
WesW's MedMod for VI gives them a couple of merchants in the starting areas to boost their economy, which by all accounts sorts 'em out.
Overall I think I prefer the approach that has been taken with VI over MI, as the campaign is more complete and varied. However it's pretty clear the AI needs a helping hand when playing up the Norse.
EEUURAAH.
yup i agree///cos when i purchased the viking invasion...i was excepting them to descend on me as i played the picts and i was pretty close to them....but as you said i also got few raids and that was all

Always when i play, viking are true pain in the a**. last time i played as saxons, vikings showed up at third turn and after that every few turns... i had to use all my resources to keep them at bay...
