I am currently playing an early period campaign with the Hungarians.I'm at 1164 and I have 30 provinces. My projected profits at the moment have reached the top20.902 florinsUnfortunately I only got 54.000 fl. now.But they are rising every year.
I wonder if anybody has ever had larger projected profits http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Currently running at about 34k per turn, but it has been higher, and I know there are folks out there who have amassed >2m fl. during the game - which probably means they could beat my figure with some ease
If you can get a few key trading provinces (Constantinople, Sweden, Antioch, Venice, etc), max out on fleets, and (most importantly) stay at peace with your neighbours it is amazing just how much cash you can rake in...

had above 50.000 , especially playing with the byzantines. And its true you can make 2 million although i usually reach about 1 million. In any case though such a level of income is not sustainable , when you dominate most of the map and you have no factions to trade with then the income will fall. However , if you collect a nice amount of money by then then you will have no problem going on the negative and it will be easier to keep large garissons and avoid those annoying rebels who appear just before total domination.

Wow, that´s a lot of money Especially becouse you´r playing with hungarians, and they don´t have too much good trade provinces.. But still, I believe that´s quite possible ( even easy, perhaps..) to make 30 000 florins per turn with some factions, like Italians and Byzantines.
It´s quite easy to get 20k-30k projected profits when playing Byzantines, if you manage to take those rich Holy Land states, khazar and Cisily and upgrade them.
Trading is rewarding, but to make such a huge sums, you should live too peacefully and that´s not nice..

I never could get much money from trading, everybody wants to wage war against me and refuse to sign a cease fire treaty. Why can't I have a peaceful game? Must be those asassins that were caught while trying to kill the monarchs.

The frog is embarrassed to admit that she considers 5,000 to be a good profit. The AI always interrupts my trade every few turns with pointless attacks. Also they never seem to have the appropriate trade facilities themselves.
Oh well, being ex shogun the frog is comfortable with farming and mining for income. That is until there is a drought/famine/flood/revolt/plague or anything else that cuts profits http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

Hah, yeah i thought 10,000 something with Italians was fanatastic, how wrong i was.
By the way, do you get more money trading with someone if you are allied to them?

You mean like Hey those guys have ships in our waters.. and we have more than them. Lets sink a few Just for fun even though we are not trading

No more like 'Hey they have a giant navy, let bounce one or two crappy little ships up and down the coastlines sinking them just for fun, even though we are trading' I wish ship combat was less weird. At least it's not as bad as Civ 3 where spearmen beat tanks with alarming regularity http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

naval combat would be much better if there were pirates to play the aggressive role the italians and the sicilians play now. I like the fact that you can get your ass kicked out of the water if you dont make sure you can protect your traderoutes but when another faction does it then it ussually is suicidical.

I don't know if you get more money trading with someone with whom you're allied rather than just neutral but that's a good question for some more experienced guys than us to answer.
The thing I know is that now that I make 20K per turn I am at war with the Italians, the Germans, the Polish and the Turkish. My only allies are the Aragonese...

I've found some nations don't like other nations trading - eg the Italians hate me when I'm Egyptian - forever attacking my fleets in the waters around Italy, but they don't care when I'm Aragonese.
I'm not sure whether it's a religous thing or not tho.

How do you guys generate such large incomes, I've played campaigns and I'd own half the map with almost all of my provinces with full farm upgrades and shipping routes throughout the world and still would only make about 8-10 thousand florins a year.

Well you can only trade with foreign nations. So if take over those foreign ports, you get less money.
Also depends on your expenditure.
Sometimes if you have large fleets you simply scare them away and they don't attack your ships. The AI will attack if it has a certain chance of winning, just as is the case with the land battles. Also, not sharing any land borders with major naval powers helps in keeping peace with them.

I play the Danes a lot and they can trade better than my uncle Ralph. Mainly I get countries with lots of stuff to trade (like Sweeden) and keep upgrading the merchant buildings. I mostly pick on rebel countries at first to avoid war with the main factions. Then if I must expand I go for the HRE, Poland or Hungry, because they usually lack costal provences. That leaves the coast to my friends so I can trade with them. When it becomes availabe I upgrade my navy to deep water ships. That way I can avoid getting my trade route bashed by loosing just one ship off the coast of Potrugal. Also I always double up my ships is pairs so if one is sunk by an AI battle or storm I still have a backup to keep the route open. Once I hold the Med. sea I keep a good fleet in the central and western med because caravels can get to almost anywhere in the med from there and the AI doesn't ususly build deep water ships as fast as I can. I also keep plenty of emmisaries running about to pester my enemies to make peace. It amazing how much florin you can bank in a short time. When it comes time to take out an enemy fleet, I usually have a massive navy in place and can take them all out in a turn or two, and get the trade back up and running with little nusance. Also it is a good idea to have a provence or two scattered along the trade routes, as this keeps upkeep costs down.
