The situation stays like this: I was playing as Hungary (high era), and in 1220 I attack Constantinopole, where the turkish sultan was besieging the city. The byzantines were holding Niceea, Trebizond was a turkish posesion. He retreats, but in 1222 he attacks with his best troops, including the ghulam contingents lead by 4 of his sons. The battle is long and fierce, but I win, killing all 4 turk heirs. I know this because the sultan and a group of 3 other ghulams are the only royal bodyguard units that escape, plus his only way of retreat was the province from where he attacked, Trebizond. And after the battle there were no heirs in that army (and I executed the prisoniers). By 1225 he managed to raise another army; I win again, killing another heir in the same conditions. The same situation in 1228, when I severely defeat him, and kill, in my opinion, his last heir. He was 53, so I was expecting his death in order to bribe the rebel army that would remain in Trebizond after his death. So he dies in 1231, but hell, the throne is ocupied by Bayazid the IV (if my memory serves me corect) at the age of 16 How is that possible?? Even if he would have had a child the year after the death of his first 4 sons, his sons couldn't be older than 9. And it's a sure thing that this could not take part in the battles between us, as he was 16

Anyone else experienced this? If so, describe the situation, please.

I remember once when I was trying to get rid of the Italians who held only Crete, but had a huge navy. So, I was sending in assassins, who would kill the doge, but each time they succeeded, a new "heir" would appear and take over. It must have happened some 4-5 times in 10 years, each time I killed the old doge the new one would take over at 16. Seemed a bit fishy at the time. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif I finally managed to get rid of them when they put doge in one stack, and the brand new heir in another, so I killed both in the same turn.
But then again, lok how many times they have no heirs whatsoever, and you get surprised when you kill the monarch and they turn rebel. Even though they may have a huge empire which you cannot see fully, and always suspect that some heir is hiding somewhere, this is often not the case. So, I guess this counterbalances the situations when they just won't die out, however frustrating those might be. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

That heir already heirs in progress. Think about it is a prince gonna wait to have sex till he is king. When he took the throne that heir was probably 7 so 9 years later that heir matured right when he died wich is actually better think of the possible bigger rebellion you would have to deal with if you killed the king or died of illness and his heir was 15

Ive been the Turks and ive had kings who would have 8-9 heirs (it said his fertility was legendary http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif ) they basically popped out once a year. Also the muslim heirs are automatically married so they have children before they are king which increase the number of heirs greatly

About the italians probably some of their generals have royal blood(married to princesses or something)or close relatives to the king(ie their brother or something).

Crete was their only province, and therefore I was able to see all the units that they had, and no, there weren't any royal blooded generals. They just wouldn't die out, or the old doge had a winning streak in bed 16 years ago...
But it's more of an exception than the rule for the christians, and muslims usually come with several underage heirs already, even though they didn't show as married while they were princes.
