It would be great a mod like that, i can (almost) tune the files, but not so much with artwork.
from ~ 700 to 1087
Could include:
The saxons
the frankish
lombards
byzantines
visigoths
sarracens
vikings
teutons
Those that were in Khazar (Jazars or something like that)

Hi,
The ones you are looking for are the Khazars ... they can be dificalt since at about 800AD they become Jewish.
Don't forget:
Avars, Vandals and Lest not forget the Muslim Fatimites
cool but,
Where were all those ones?
Hee, BTW, i tried to make a new unit file and a build file, with the viking buildings, and some few of the other, like mosque, great mosque, etc. But it shows me an error, like "SIEGE_ENGINEER4 required not found" but no unit needs the SIEGE_ENGINEER4 (Master S. E.). I'm getting crazy So I tried then taking out that unit, and then another error, like that. It should be related to the tabs, or anything. I just started a new campaign mod for the Early Period.
It stretches from 635 - 1205
635 being the year the Arabs conquer Damascus and begin their conquests and 1205 being the year after Constantinople falls to the Latins.
It is called "The Arab Conquests", it focuses on the dramatic changes in Europe and the Middle East in the 7th century and the dark ages that follow.
I wonder if the Viking era can be included in this somehow?
If no. too bad
If yes. good I want in.
I've already set out the factions and complete 60% of the regional distribution:
These are the factions
Vikings - Danes
Rurikids - Novgorod
Byzantines - guess
Magyars - polish
Khazars - turks
Arabs - egyptians
berbers - almohads
visigoths - spanish
visigoth separatists - aragonese
Nuestria - france (Frankish kingdom)
Austrasia - germany (Frankish kingdom)
Mercia - english
Byzantine rebels - sicilians
Lombards - italians
Papacy - papist (I have figured a way to rid the Pope without getting rid of the Pope - strange I know but it works - but that means no Crusades and excommuniocations....:( )
Length of time to build buildings takes longer so some factions can peak at the right time around the historic timeframe. Eg. Vikings might have to wait around 770-800 to get going. Arabs however have the advantage of quick conquests with a cheap upkeep of their armies.
There are some new units for this like generic Germanic bodyguards for Germanic factions(visigoths, lombards)
Or Arab levies for raising Muslim armies quickly in a short time.
If I could figure out how to make smaller provinces on the campaign I would be stoked..unfortunately I still have to learn how to do that first and unfortunately the arab conquests + dark age isn;t a fav topic of many people.:mecry:

I think we should start during the vi time and have those factions in but on the big big map, the rest of the map should be rebel (a few being viking) then everynow and then one of the factions from early campaign are "born" and get 2 or 3 rebel territories until all the factions are in http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
The Mercians, i think, should be the saxons, also in saxony and friesland too. (That's in my mod)
BTW, the starting date should be 700 ad or more, i think.

How bout coinciding the VI period with the Muslim threat to Europe?
The Vikings weren't the only bad boys hassling Europe in that period.
I also made a mod ages ago, it was set around 715 a few years after the second siege of Constantinople, the Arabs own North Africa and all the Middle East except for Anatolia(Byzantines), it also coincides with the period of the Iberian conquest by the Moors. To the north-east of map are the turkic powers like the Khazars, Magyars and Biulgars poised to strike into Europe.
I can provide artwork if you want - hand-drawn medium of course - haven't reached the stage of cgi yet.
