View Full Version : Music in TW!
I just love the musicAs an eastern European I was stunned by the music of STW,its japanese character, ambient sounds in the campaign map...
In MTW I almost had an heart attack listening the menu music (though it is a short loop of a great theme...),
Let's talk about the music (and the author-winner of the BAFTA award, by the way)...

Well... for RTW I thought we allready agreed on "Smack my bitch up" by the Prodigy? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif
well... maybe only a shitload of iron maiden songs would to the trick http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif

Ha ha, imagine doing battle on "Abre dojde donke"...ha ha ha http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif
No, seriosly...as much as I know about ancient music, it's very different from our modern perception...I doubt it can reach our contemporary level of drama and suspence (talking about the battles).I once heard a reproduction of Greek ancient music and it sounded like a...well it could not stand independently as a theme...
I found music in MTW satisfactory to say the least. Stratmap music is simple, but battle music is very good, especially for the muslims. I'm not talking about the authenticity, etc., but it gets the message through very well.

Absolutely no objections, though I was thinking more about "Veligden" and "Istekuvam"... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Any chance of a Eurovision soundtrack????
I wish the MTW songs were longer than a measly 1-2 mins - a 20 min one will suffice.

GAH eurovision http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif
Maby some music from gladiator would fit in, through the music from rome already sounded like it (if the music from the movies is like ingame)
agree @ kataphraktoi&Belisarius.
they should turn the music into MP3 files so we could have longer songs.
Hey,did anyone noticed there are many metalheads on this forum?Rock on

I guess it's just a personality thing. People who like total war seem to like decent music. Hmmm...that sounds like material for a learned pyschology paper...

It is easy enough to convert Mp3's to Wav files. A number of free downloadable programs can be found. personaly I use a program called CDex.
at the moment I have the soundtrack for the two towers playing during my TW battles http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

To compensate the bloodshed thats gonne take place in Rome the should play Aaron carter - I want candy during the battles so the little kids can play rome aswell http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif
kataphraktoi, what do you mean? I'm holding Rome right now
Good suggestions guys, keep them coming.
The mp3 thing is already in the works, although it might be ogg format, but it's no different than mp3.
Songs are longer in Rome, and have more intelligent triggering similar to Viking Invasion.
Cheers,
Jeff
Jeff,I think the number of the songs should be bigger.Sometimes after fighting several batlles in a row,I get bored by the same amb music.I've noticed there are two songs per faction, but pls make it 5-6... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif
Say,what kind of music do you like?I can guess that you have a broad taste but number a thing or two.
Have you played in a band?
p.s.The season effects in the campaign music are great.I almost can visualise a winter landscape in northern Europe. The lonely monastery in the horison, couple of peasants walking slowly with their donkeys...ahmmm.....

That is really more information then we needed http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif I hope you are breeding with someone else but your right hand http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
You meant breathe right? Breeding is something completly different
I got tired of the Christian music. I kept all the Muslim music, but changed the Christian music to some of the old Shogun music...it doesn't fit the theme, but I like it better.
I use Winamp to convert music to wav, its very easy.

For the gauls and britons, I think some irish music would do the trick.

For Barbarians, Paul McCartney-'(War)Band on the Run'
How about Zorba's Dance for the Greeks http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif
mind you pr Fire had a point some of the Irish folk instrumentals can be quite drum heavy and threatening, they'd work quite well for a battle.
