This has probably been mentioned before, but I thought I'd bring it up anyway. Well I was playing VI and decided to play as the Picts for a change (I usually go with factions with defensive units) after a quick decisive victory over the scots I started to build up some trade routes and begin farming to try and build up enough income to support an advance southward to the richer provinces. At this time I didn't want to train too many units because of the upkeep costs and the fact that the viking were more likely to look south for richer provinces to invade.

Then it dawned on me that beserkers have an upkeep of only 7 florins, so I had every available province training beserkers. And when I finally sent my army southward they crushed all opposition, well until I met the Mercians. Which led to a huge standoff between our borders, but with the amount of time I'd spent on trade routes I had access to more or less all the isle. Bypassing their frontline I took rich provinces down south and eventually wore them down.

I've played with all the other factions and I'd say I've never found it this easy or fast to conquer the isle.

btw I was playing on Hard. Don't know if it works on expert

With the Pics, what choice is there besides berserkers?
