How do I get a custom avatar working

I've input the html link to my www folder on my site into the custom avatar field in the ctrl panel. I hit the upload button, it looks like it goes through fine, but nothing ever happens. I go to the avatar section and it still shows me using the preset avatar. What am I doing wrong?

The Ikonboard Skin has to be on "Custom Avatar".

You just need to change your skin so you can see it yourself, but don't do it and then look at Kikkoman's, er... Lehesu's avatar. Yes, it's THAT dangerous to your mental health.
