Can I change a faction religion to jewish, heretic or something like those??? ( http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif An heretic faction should be Cool...)

I believe you can only use the four major religions...Pagan would be closest to Heretic.

Just go to the startpos file and change the faction religion and culture, you can use any of the six religions. Make sure you change the unit availabilities, and the culture of the provinces the faction begins with.

He, he, i changed a faction religion to heretic and the burning book appear in front of the main shield. But it was still showing "...a catholic faction". This one should be related to the culture. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

Well, actually, i tried and you may use the heretics as religion, but no as culture, so the faction should cotinue showing ...., a catholic faction. Too Bad.

Does anyone know how to make the Golden Horde change religion to Islam, if, say, Khazar goes Muslim? This would be a nice historical touch.

To change the the religion and culture of Golden Horde do the following steps:

(This is for late period, in high they were pagan)

go to \campmap\startpos\

Then edit "late.txt"

Search GOLDEN_HORDE PAGAN_CULTURE

Change PAGAN_CULTURE to MUSLIM_CULTURE

THEN REPEAT for PAGAN_RELIGION

AND CHANGE IT 2 MUSLIM_RELIGION.

Will that make the Golden horde auto change religion at late age? Or only if you start the late campaign? Nice pic, btw, is that for some sort of Byzantine clan? or do you just like purple?

That'd only change it if you started in late, changing the religion mid-game is hardcoded.

hmm... i keep getting this error that units are being assigned to owner w/ different religion, even though i changed the available cultures of the pagan units to all cultures in crusaderunit_prod11.txt. Anyone knows why?

My pic is not for a byzantine clan, i just like violet.

It's not different religion the problem. It's different culture. If you, let's say, you put a byzantine infantry in Ile de france (if owned by french) that'll end in this kind of error.

What provinces did you change? to who?

I didnt change any province cultures, only the culture and religion of the faction(Golden Horde) to Muslim. Then i went to crusader_prod11 (using gnome), where mongol horse archer, heavy cav, and warrior's "culture" column says pagan, and edited it to be blank (all, i suppose).

Ok, then try changing the golden horde units culture to muslim. Maybe this works.
