Heard its hard to win in time.

If you did made it, which nation did you take and what difficulty was it? And what is your general strategy.

Vikings,Normal difficulty, easy as hell.My king was pretty productive and i managed to get up to 7 units of Huscarle in a few turns, also landsmenn, carls and raider cavalry(just in case you need some mobility)and you could conquer the northumbrians and irish in the first few turns, after that turn on the mercians before they manage to feild a massive army and ally with the saxons.go after the picts and scots and then roll over the welsh, and britian is yours.

Picts, hard - 100% victory.
Strategy: capture islands, build boats to protect shores, use armored spear and xbows to protect borders. When i got an armory i started building LOTS and LOTS of berserkers.(cheap upkeep is essential in VI)

The Mercians had 2/3 of the map, i had the remaining land + ireland. I managed to cause a civil war in mercia by landing 4 units of high quality mercenary troops + 1 berserker unit in an unprotected area causing retreat and then jumping around the country side, until there were so much unhappiness that one other faction reemerged and the mercians went down in flames.

Only played two Viking campaigns thus far. Won as Vikings and Saxons. I thought there is enough time to achieve 100% victory.

Btw, slight hijack, Faisal, sorry for the crappy games we played in MP. I guess it was late and hence the little fight between Sinan and me. Tell me when you're online again and we shall play some decent matches http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I have played all the factions close to completion. With the stronger factions (vikings, mercians, saxons, irish) I usually win 100% before 900. With the rest I am certainly done by 950 so I can't see where 1066 is too soon. With some of the tougher factions (welsh, northumbrians) it pays to be SUPER aggressive in the very early game. This puts you in a good position to win in a reasonable time frame. For instance, I played as the welsh and had defeated the saxons in 811, then build up a bunch and had taken over mercian lands by 850. After that it is just cleanup except for the irish.

So the game ends at 1066? It´s a small island and a very long time, it cant be difficult..

I´v never have a change to see the ending year, there is absolutely enough time. The buildings takes quite few years to build, so it should not be compared to main Medieval.

Welsh on expert was a little tricky and I had to settle with the minor victory.

I have had 100% with most of the others except for the Vikings, cos i got bored to death of them after about 50 years.

I won 2 campaigns (Irish and Saxons) by 1000 and both are on hard. Then I went on to play 2 Medieval campaigns (Danes and Rusian). I quit both campaign when I had about 10 more provinces to conquer (in ~ 1400).

Now, I am playing STW:MI again.

It's somewhat more interesting for me to build a Holy Roman Empire, or great Almohad Civilization, or something along those lines.

I only ever played 2 VI campaigns and tbh I never bothered with conquest. For me what made MI and VI interesting is the ability to drop the economic approach altogether and go for outright raiding.

Therefore in VI I never had more than 4-5 bases from which to launch my seaborne attacks. I found it very easy and satisfying to play this style, after the Almos, English, Turks etc where i would really focus on building an empire. It is also refreshing to be able to effectively dominate the entire camp map with about 10,000 troops max. In MTW 1.1 I has an extensive military program with provincial troops etc...not in VI.....it's much simpler. I wish there was some GA for Viking raids.

To Faiz and Brutal: I am always up for some games. So see you soon. I should have some time on Wednesday between 18:30-21:30 GMT. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

Well CET should really be the standard. So lets say 19:30-22:30 CET.

What is GMT anyway and can Krast eat it ?

Krast can eat anything, if it's been thrown into the soup properly. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

If Faiz can make it maybe let's do a custom battle. I can think up some ideas, time to have some fun http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
