the pics looks very good and since i think all visitors read mostly this subforum most regulary i think some hyping in here wouldnt do no harm.

Call me a party pooper, but I'm unimpressed with the current look of the game. The world map shows army icons like the ones in Shogun. The flag poles used were still of Japanese design. The battle screenshots show that standards are used, also like shogun, but using western design. And the Moslems also use the same design! I thought it should be different. But somehow, it doesn't look medieval (europe) to me. All the knights look the same, but I figured different knights have different heralds depending on their leniage. Knights, even if on the same side, should not look the same. It's just too colorful. It might just be me... but the game still looks Japanese.

It's great to see the castle sieges totally revamped for the new game. It just wouldn't be right if the assaults were carried out Shogun-style.

nice indeed. the one thing i was looking for in those pics i couldnt find. where are the defenders on the castle walls? where are the counter-siege engines? but it did look pretty good, didnt it :)

I have to disagree with Jomni. I think this looks great so far...especially considering this is a relatively early build.

As for the map looking similar...well some things are better off left unfixed...I really like the map interface for Shogun, it is simple and smooth - and it seems even improved in the new game.

As for the standards, why are you complaining? They are certainly a simple way to find your units, and to help you see what is going on.

I was impressed by the photos I looked at (about 1/3 of them). I like the siege instruments, and the siege battles look more interesting...

I think this will be one game that I will be picking up, unless something radical changes that.

Looks very nice....especially for an early look. Castle seiges will be nice! I see the breach in the walls..what about defenses, castle design to meet new advances in technology (cannon)
One problem I see is where do I find more time?
shorter/faster dog walks (this won't go over well)
even less sleep
let grass grow in summer (heck, let it die!)and the snow will eventually melt, so why bother to shovel....

I can see individual buildings in the castles. Does this mean we could take out a trainning facility during a battle? I also think castles should be around in normal battles, they can't be retreated into (otherwise too easy for defenders) but you could take out a wall or a building to make a seige easier later (it could be repaired but obviously at cost and time), or to prevent a specific unit being produced.

I'm not compalining about the game system. I just hope they make the game look more European. At the current stage, the game still looks Asian to me. That's what I get for playing Shogun too much. So they better not rush it and release the game looking like that or I won't buy it. I don't care if it's just me.
